IMOGENE KLUTTS CHAMBERS

For the past seven decades, Imogene Klutts Chambers has dedicated herself to her career as a school system administrator and financial consultant. Her journey began with a Bachelor of Arts from East Central University, after which she immediately joined Marlow Public Schools as a high school mathematics teacher. A year later, she was employed by Bartlesville Public Schools, where she also garnered experience to become the assistant superintendent of business affairs and the treasurer. During his time, Dr. Chambers also served as a financial accounting consultant for the Oklahoma State Department of Education. She furthered her education at Oklahoma State University with a Master of Science in 1974 and an EdD in 1980, as well as at the Association of School Business Officials, International, with certification as a school business administrator in 1976. Dr. Chambers served as a Director of Plaza National Bank (now BOK Financial) from 1984 to 1994.

Although she is officially retired, Dr. Chambers continues to give back to her community. She was a member of the board of directors of MUTUAL Girls Club from 1981 to 2016, and a life member of the East Central University and Oklahoma State University Alumni. Further, Bartlesville School District was one of three school districts that founded the Oklahoma School Insurance Association to pioneer the self-funding of workers’ compensation. She served as treasurer and later as administrator, retiring from that position in 1996.

To connect with her peers, Dr. Chambers authored “The Evolution of School Financial Accounting: The United States from 1910 to 1980 and Oklahoma from 1907 to 1980,” presented at workshops, and contributed articles to professional publications. Additionally, she became a life member of the Oklahoma State University Alumni Association and the East Central University Alumni Association. She was a member of the Association of School Business Officials International and the Oklahoma Association of School Business Officials.

As a testament to her hard work and dedication, Dr. Chambers was the recipient of the Eagle Service Award for outstanding service to school, community and profession from the Association of School Business Officials International in 1993. She was also featured in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, and Who’s Who of American Women.
