FRAN E. KAISER

Specializing in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism, Fran E. Kaiser has led a distinguished career in medicine for 43 years. She is noted for her research in hormonal changes with aging, studies of therapy of erectile dysfunction, testosterone, estrogen and frailty, osteoporosis, and women’s health and sexuality. Dr. Kaiser is also known for using her vast knowledge and experience to contribute articles to professional journals like “Geriatric Review Syllabus,” and to serve as an ad-hoc reviewer for “The Journal of the American Geriatrics Society,” and “Endocrinology.” Further, she lent her expertise to the editorial boards of the “Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism” and “International Medicine Bulletin.”

Originally, Dr. Kaiser began her career at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York as an intern and chief resident, and then as an instructor and fellow in endocrinology and metabolism and professor at the University of Minnesota. She proceeded to become an assistant professor in residence at UCLA Medical School, followed by a stint as an associate professor of medicine and associate director of the division of geriatric medicine at St. Louis University. From 1997 through 2013, Dr. Kaiser was the senior medical director and executive medical director at Merck & Co., Inc., in Irving, Texas, and from 2014 to 2016, she was the medical director at Health Systems, Medical Affairs Merck & Co., Inc. Presently, Dr. Kaiser continues to serve as a volunteer at North Texas Veteran Affairs Medical Center, the chief executive officer of Kaiser and Associates Consultants, and an adjunct professor of medicine at St. Louis University, where she has been since 2016, 2004, and 1997, respectively.

Dr. Kaiser has enhanced her career with positions in endocrinology and metabolism and geriatric medicine from 1981 to 2008 at the St. Paul Ramsey Medical Center in Minnesota, the Olive View Medical Center at UCLA San Fernando Valley Program, Hospital-Based Home Care at the VA Medical Center, and at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. As a testament to her achievements, she received the John A. Hartford Geriatric Faculty Development Scholar Award from the Hartford Foundation at NYC/UCLA School of Medicine.

To prepare for her endeavors, Dr. Kaiser earned a Bachelor of Science from City College of New York in 1970 and an MD from New York Medical College in 1974. She is board certified in internal medicine. Her credentials also include membership in the American Geriatrics Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Association of Home Care Physicians, New York Academy of Science, American Federation of Clinical Research, Endocrine Society, and Diabetes Association.
