Emily Lewis

Emily Lewis is well regarded as a staunch advocate for women’s rights, having been a lifelong feminist. Desiring to enter a profession that would benefit women in the workforce, she decided to delve into the field of law. Prior to embarking on her career, she pursued formal education at Grand Valley State University, graduating with honors with a Bachelor of Science in sociology, political science, and women’s studies in 1977. Subsequently, she attended the Michigan State University College of Law (formerly the Detroit College of Law), graduating cum laude with a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1984.

Admitted to practice law by the State Bar of Ohio, Ms. Lewis is also admitted to practice before all Ohio courts, the Ohio federal district courts and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Since 1992, she has excelled as the owner and attorney at the Law Offices of Emily Lewis. Headquartered in Dublin, Ohio, Ms. Lewis’ law practice focuses on civil cases and employment issues such as discrimination and sexual harassment. Considered a trailblazer in workplace law, she has also conducted a plethora of work in race discrimination. Among the many highlights of her career, she is particularly proud of communicating with various groups about the intricacies of employment. To this end, Ms. Lewis has had several cases decided by the Sixth Circuit that created favorable laws regarding discrimination based on race and sex. She is also gratified by the opportunities presented to her to mentor young women attorneys.

Adjacent to her primary appointments in law, Ms. Lewis served as chairperson of the labor and employment law committee of the Columbus Bar Association and served as president and officer of the Women Lawyers of Franklin County. Civically engaged as well, she has participated in three international People-to-People Ambassador Program trips to China, South Africa, and Cuba. As a testament to her success, she was named among Lawyers of Distinction, received a Top Attorney Award, and earned the National Women in Law Award from Lawyer Monthly in 2021.

Attributing much of her success to her diligent work ethic and ambitious drive, Ms. Lewis intends to continue serving her community in the coming years. A proponent of hiking, international travel, cooking, gardening, antiquing, and reading, she is married and has two children.
