Cheri L. Emerson has established a distinguished career in financial planning and private portfolio management, dedicating over two decades to Jones Financial. She currently serves as director of financial planning and associate private client wealth advisor, specializing in managing the practice, creating portfolios for high-profile clients, and building a multi-generational practice. Over the years, she has onboarded and served 1,400 households, contributing significantly to the firm’s growth alongside its chief executive officer.

Ms. Emerson’s strategic approach and mentorship have not only driven the firm’s success but also shaped the financial futures of numerous clients. As she transitions her responsibilities to a new relationship manager, she remains committed to ensuring a seamless client experience. Ms. Emerson’s career in the financial sector began as a wealth management advisor at Ameriprise Financial Inc./American Express Financial Advisors from 2002 to 2004. She then joined The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, serving as an associate wealth management advisor from 2004 to 2021, where she honed her expertise in financial planning and investment strategies. Prior to transitioning into finance, she had a notable tenure at Qwest-US West-Mountain Bell from 1979 to 2002, playing a pivotal role in regulatory affairs and mergers.

Ms. Emerson’s academic foundation includes earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in financial management services from the University of Phoenix in 2006. Additionally, she holds multiple certifications, including registered paraplanner, financial paraplanner qualified professional, and certification in long-term care. She went on to earn certificates in financial planning and portfolio management from the College for Financial Planning and holds series 7 and series 66 licenses.

Ms. Emerson’s contributions extend beyond her professional achievements, having been an active volunteer with The Action Center since 2000 and Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer since 2018, where she helped raise $200,000 in funds. Her past initiatives include organizing a savings bond drive for a phone company. She attributes her success to her motivation, goal-oriented mindset, and the inspiration she draws from collaborating with coworker who push her to continually excel.

Looking ahead, Ms. Emerson plans to explore consulting opportunities post-retirement while continuing to support her clients through financial transitions. She remains dedicated to fostering confidence and preparedness in aspiring professionals, especially women entering historically male-dominated fields. She advises newcomers to surround themselves with supportive individuals, trust in their abilities, and approach client interactions with knowledge and self-assurance, focusing on their capabilities rather than gender.
