Supported by more than 30 years of professional experience, Cathleen Peterson-Layne, PhD, MD, serves as the founder and president of Being inCredible in Atlanta, Georgia. Since 2021, she has lent her wealth of knowledge and expertise to providing one-on-one and team coaching services. Equipped with a Global Team Coaching Institute certification, she has derived great pleasure from coaching leaders to become the best versions of themselves. To this end, she has always been thrilled to help individuals on a broader level express their skill sets and fulfill their passions in a way that brings them satisfaction.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Peterson-Layne served in the pharmaceutical, academic, and medical industries, commencing her career in 1988 as a pharmacist at Revco Drug Stores Pharmacies in Tucson, Arizona. Remaining there for one year, she served as a pharmacist for Kerr Drug in Creedmoor, North Carolina, from 1991 to 1995 and as an assistant professor of anesthesiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2002 to 2005. Following this appointment, Dr. Peterson-Layne joined the faculty of Duke University, becoming an assistant professor turned associate professor of anesthesiology and an anesthesiologist. Departing from the facility in 2016, she relocated to Omaha, Nebraska, and excelled as a full professor of anesthesiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center until 2019. Thereafter, from 2019 to 2021, Dr. Peterson-Layne was a professor of anesthesiology, vice chair of education and fellowship program director at the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. She followed this appointment with tenure as founder and chief executive officer of CPL Anesthesiology from 2021 to 2022 prior to commencing her current role.
To prepare for her career, Dr. Peterson-Layne attended the R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy at the University of Arizona, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy in 1988. She also earned a Master of Science in pharmacology in 1991, a Doctor of Philosophy in neuropharmacology in 1995, and a Doctor of Medicine in 1998, all from Duke University.
Looking toward the future, Dr. Peterson-Layne intends to continue expanding the scope of Being inCredible to impact more individuals on a broader scale. Specifically, she would like to make an authentic difference in the lives of others, influencing clients by leveraging her own knowledge and talents. In her leisure time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and educating herself on different cultures. Married to Jim Layne, the couple share two daughters, who both serve in the military.
