CAROL SAPIN GOLD

A business professional with expertise in communications, Carol Sapin Gold strives to live by her motto, “the secret of success without hard work is still a secret.” She is currently the president of an eponymous consultancy, which she opened in 1971, and a volunteer with the California Bar Association. Her role with the latter includes sitting on a three-person panel and listening to both the plaintiff and the respondent as they discuss domestic, commercial, and/or civil issues. Ms. Gold is also mentoring a master class full of individuals who want to learn how to write and speak more effectively and how to better engage their audiences. She finds her work in these capacities to be extremely rewarding, as it has given her the opportunity to meet and interact with a diverse group of professionals, companies, and new businesses. Prior to her current endeavors, Ms. Gold garnered experience as an assistant credit manager at Union Oil Co., an employee of the U.S. Department of State, a member of the Department of Public Relations at Braun & Co., and the corporate director of personnel training at the Great West Financial Corporation.

One of the highlights of Ms. Gold’s career occurred while she was working in India. She had business around the country, in places like Bangladesh, Bangalore, and Calcutta, and decided that she wanted to meet Indira Gandhi at some point during her travels. She wrote to her senator in California to see if that could be arranged, and when she got to her hotel in Bombay, she found that he had sent her a wire with instructions. When Ms. Gold got in the taxi that was sent for her, she was taken to visit Gandhi. Although she was only given 10 minutes to speak with her, she ended up spending more than half an hour with her. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Other highlights include writing a customer service book for Mazda, watching the rockets take off during her employment at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and being the first woman to speak at the American Chemical Association.

To prepare for her journey, Ms. Gold participated in a summer program at Oxford University in 2013 and earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1955. She also became involved with prominent professional organizations like the American Society for Training and Development, the National Speakers Association, the International CEO Executive Forum, the World Affairs Council, and Sales and Marketing Executives. Her bar affiliations include the Louisiana Bar, the Beverly Hills Bar, the Santa Monica Bar, the California State Bar Association, and the California County Bar Association.

In her spare time, Ms. Gold enjoys music and writing. She was notably the host of a radio program called The Competitive Edge and the author of “Solid Gold Customer Relations: A Professional Resource Guide.” To this day, she remains involved with such companies as Burnhill Productions, the Odyssey Theater, Center Theatre Group, the Palisades Theatre Director Improv Corp., and the LACMA Council.
