Brittany Washington

Brittany Washington has established herself as a distinguished leader in global quality systems, regulatory compliance, recall management, post-market risk management and digital quality initiatives. Over the course of her 14-year tenure at Medtronic, she has demonstrated a remarkable capacity for innovation and operational excellence, consistently advancing the organization’s quality management practices.

In her current role as senior quality systems program manager, Ms. Washington leads enterprise-wide field corrective action quality management system transformation initiatives that support Medtronic’s FCA operating model. She collaborates with global and regional partners to strengthen recall management systems and spearheads digital recall and product-hold initiatives, ensuring regulatory and documentation compliance throughout the recall lifecycle. Her efforts have resulted in the establishment of standardized governance and shared FCA processes, the development of an enterprise-wide documentation structure and training curriculum, and a 75 percent reduction in FCA QMS documentation. Ms. Washington has also led the implementation of standardized FCA approval processes, a centralized electronic FCA document repository and the migration from hard-copy records, while coordinating FCA-related regulatory inquiries and supporting clear communication of product issues and resolutions to health care stakeholders.

From 2021 to 2024, Ms. Washington served as compliance program manager at Medtronic. In this capacity, she was responsible for overseeing adherence to evolving global regulations and managing complex compliance projects. Her ability to anticipate regulatory changes and adapt organizational processes contributed significantly to Medtronic’s continued success in maintaining high standards of quality assurance.

Between 2020 and 2021, Ms. Washington held the position of quality systems specialist in post market risk management at Medtronic. She played a pivotal role in evaluating product performance data, identifying potential risks and implementing corrective actions to ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance.

Ms. Washington’s earlier experience as associate quality systems specialist for brain and spine therapies from 2017 to 2020 provided her with foundational expertise in medical device quality systems. She supported cross-functional teams in process improvement initiatives and contributed to the development of robust quality protocols.

Prior to this, Ms. Washington was principal customer care representative for spine and biologics from 2016 to 2017, where she managed customer inquiries related to product performance and collaborated with technical teams to resolve complex issues efficiently. From 2014 to 2016, she served as distribution group lead IV for spine and biologics at Medtronic, overseeing logistics operations and ensuring timely delivery of critical medical products. Ms. Washington began her career at Medtronic as domestic order processor II for spine and biologics from 2012 to 2014, where she gained valuable experience in supply chain management within the medical device sector.

In addition to her core responsibilities, Ms. Washington has made significant contributions through leadership roles within Medtronic’s employee networks. As CONNECT chair for the Medtronic Women’s Network at the Memphis site since 2025, she launched an internal mentoring program for local manufacturing and distribution employees, fostering professional growth among colleagues. As talent chair for the African Descent Network from 2021 to 2025, she was instrumental in establishing a national cohort-based Master of Business Administration program with Christian Brothers University in Memphis and forging a partnership with Maricopa Community College in Tempe to offer Microsoft Excel courses company-wide.

Throughout her career journey, Ms. Washington has embraced adaptability as a guiding principle—remaining vigilant against complacency while seeking out new challenges that drive both personal growth and organizational advancement. She credits her resilience, discipline and commitment to continuous learning as key factors behind her achievements.

Ms. Washington’s academic background has been integral to her professional accomplishments. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in finance at The University of Arizona Global Campus. In 2020, she graduated with a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in quality of medical devices from Christian Brothers University. She initially earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology at The University of Memphis in 2014.

Ms. Washington attributes her success to resilience and grit—viewing challenges not as setbacks but as catalysts for growth—and credits disciplined goal-setting along with a forward-focused mindset for her steady progression within the industry. Her initial interest in medical device quality systems stemmed from a desire to contribute meaningfully to patient safety by combining analytical rigor with human-centered decision-making. Her leadership has been recognized through accolades such as being named one of the Most Influential Women of 2025—a testament to her impact on both industry peers and broader communities.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Ms. Washington is deeply engaged with civic organizations that reflect her dedication to mentorship and community service. Since 2020, she has been active as a mentor with tnAchieves supporting students’ educational aspirations across Tennessee. In 2019, she contributed as child life specialist at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital providing compassionate support for pediatric patients. From 2018 to 2019, she mentored colleagues at Medtronic helping them navigate career development opportunities while earlier serving as unit buddy at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare between 2013 and 2014.

Among Ms. Washington’s most significant professional achievements is leading enterprise quality system transformation initiatives that have delivered measurable improvements in compliance efficiency and documentation effectiveness—demonstrating her ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into sustainable enterprise-wide solutions.
