Beatrice Philippe is renowned as a financial services executive with a career marked by more than 50 years of innovation in international business development. Initially earning a degree in Russian language from the School of Oriental Languages in Paris, she subsequently obtained a certificate in general literature studies at the University of Paris in 1966. In 1969, she graduated with a Master of Business Administration from the HECJF Paris Business School. Ms. Philippe concluded her studies with postgraduate coursework at Stanford University in 1975.
From 1972 to 1973, Ms. Philippe began her career as a research assistant for Business International New York in Paris. Finding success as an assistant to the director of research at the Society for Economic and Finance Analysis between 1973 and 1980, she participated on the board of directors of the International Corporation Placement and Capitalization in 1976. Ms. Philippe further flourished as the president of the European-American Economic Corporation from 1980 to 1989, and the Society of Economic and Finance Analysis from 1985 to 1998.
Ms. Philippe also found success as the managing director of Pan Holding, S. A., from 1981 to 1998. She notably established Philippe Investment Management, Incorporated, in 1981, with which remains active as the company’s chief executive officer. She has additionally excelled as the chief executive officer of the European-American Economic Corporation since 1989 and the president of PIM Gestion France since 1998. Likewise, Ms. Philippe is a decorated member of the French National Order of Merit since 1999 and a councilor of the French Society of Financial Analysts, also being named a Chevalier of the Légion d’Honneur in 2013.
Ms. Philippe became involved in her profession because her grandfather started the firm that she has been working with in New York. Unfortunately, her grandfather passed away in the war about 15 years after she started working with him. Her son followed in both their footsteps and worked with the business as well. The highlight of Ms. Philippe’s career came in the mid-1980s when her company had a joint venture with the company Worttime. Another major moment was that her company was the first French and American financial firm to offer pension funds to American companies on non-American equities; this was a large achievement for a small firm. A third achievement included managing for high net-worth individuals in the early 2000s, which is a task that her company had originally started out doing, but changed.
Moving forward, Ms. Philippe would like to be remembered as someone who was balanced between her business, family and friends. Her job is not an easy profession, but it is a fascinating one because you are sure of what you’re going to do. You have to have convictions, go for it and be honest.
