Who's Who of Professional Women


A medical professional with more than four decades of experience, Barbara Dominiak is proud of her contributions to the field. Her journey began at Nicolas Copernicus University in Poland, where she earned a master’s degree in biology in 1976. To further her professional standing, she obtained a PhD from the Academy of Agriculture and Technology in Poland in 1985, a diploma in English as a second language from the New York Institute of Business Technology in 1994, and an MD from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. She also completed a residency at the American University of Antigua from 2007 to 2017.

Over the years, Dr. Dominiak has put her training and knowledge to use in a variety of roles. She was a visiting scientist, a volunteer research assistant in pathology, and a family-practice volunteer in the Podiatry Orthopedic-Surgery Department at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, a volunteer in the Vascular Clinic at New York College of Podiatric Medicine, and an assistant professor in the Department of Histology & Embryology and a lecture research assistant at the Pomeranian Medical Academy in Poland. Additionally, she served as a young scientists’ representative for the Academic Board of the Pomeranian Medical Academy, the treasurer of the Polish Anatomical Society of the Pomeranian Medical Academy, and a member of the Polish Histo-Cytobiological Society and the American Educational Research Association.

In recognition of her hard work and dedication, Dr. Dominiak earned first place for her poster at the annual meeting of the European Tissue Culture Society twice, a Special Award for the Supervision of Students from the Department of Histology and Embryology at the Pomeranian Medical Academy, and an honorarium for work supported by the Academy of Agriculture in Olsztyn, Poland. Other notable accolades include an honorarium for her presentation at the Seventh International Symposium of Operative Andrology, an honorarium for her publication, Folia Histochemica et Cytobiologica, and various grants.

Looking to the future, Dr. Dominiak hopes to complete a publication she has been working on since medical school.
