Austin Iris Gray got her start in the field of health care as a customer service specialist with Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon and Cambia Health Solutions in 2008, after earning an Associate of Applied Science in language and literature from Pierce College in 2006 and completing coursework in history at Pacific Lutheran University from 2006 and 2007. In 2011, she became a third-party liability investigator for Regence BlueCross BlueShield and rose to the role of business system analyst in 2013 while studying toward her bachelor’s degree at Western Governors University. Ms. Gray achieved the position of senior business system analyst in 2015 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in information technology project management in 2016.
Ms. Gray served Regence BlueCross Blue Shield as a process improvement consultant from 2016 to 2019 and obtained a Master of Business Administration in management from Western Governors University in 2019. She concluded her career at Regence BlueCross Blue Shield as a process improvement consultant level two in 2020. During this time, she was also the owner of J&A Reclaimed from 2016 to 2018 and, in 2018, she began her tenure as an independent distributor and beauty consultant for SeneGence International. Subsequently joining Decent in 2020, Ms. Gray served as claims management lead from 2020 to 2021 and business operations lead from 2021 to 2022.
With considerable experience in the health plan operation ecosystem, Ms. Gray joined the Boston Medical Center and WellSense Health Plan as the senior business manager in 2022. Her primary duties include managing the systems and technology to keep things running smoothly day-to-day, customer service, claims and appeals, and everything in between. As part of the newly formed transformation team, she supports multiple projects and workstreams ranging in scope from implementing new networks, process improvement, revenue management, program building, technology assessments, and more. In addition to her work with Boston Medical Center and SeneGence, Ms. Gray recently joined 5th Element Holistics LLC as a certified health coach.
Holding a number of additional certifications to bolster her expertise, Ms. Gray considers the highlight of her career to be how she was able to grow and excel in her career while going through school. She is incredibly proud of having worked full-time while completing her master’s degree and of being named to both the president’s list and the dean’s list. For her excellence, she was presented with the Service Hero Award by Regence BlueCross BlueShield and has been inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa. To keep abreast of developments in her field, Ms. Gray also maintains affiliation with the National Society of Leadership and Success.
