Arwa B. Ensour, PMP, CMR, BMBMS, BS, is an educator and activist dedicated to shaping the future of education and community engagement. As president of the Prospect Park Board of Education in New Jersey, she made history as the first Arab Muslim young American-Jordanian elected and nominated to this position in the state. In addition to her leadership role, she teaches fifth grade, covering social studies, English language arts, and math. She also teaches Arabic on weekends and during the summer, fostering cultural understanding and language proficiency among students.
Ms. Ensour earned a Bachelor of Science in cellular and molecular biology from William Paterson University of New Jersey. Her academic background in science has given her a strong foundation for problem-solving, analytical thinking, and leadership in various fields. She holds multiple certifications, including project management professional, certified pharmacy technician, certification in first aid and CPR, and certified municipal registrar, demonstrating her commitment to professional growth and versatility.
Ms. Ensour’s career spans multiple roles that reflect her diverse expertise. Since 2023, she has served as deputy municipal registrar for the Borough of Prospect Park, New Jersey, where she plays a vital role in municipal operations. From 2017 to 2024, she worked as an office assistant in the Office of University Community Partnerships at William Paterson University, supporting community-based initiatives. She also served as a financial aid assistant at the university from 2023 to 2024, helping students navigate financial resources. Her experience as a pharmacy technician at CVS Pharmacy from 2021 to 2023 further showcases her ability to excel in different professional settings.
Ms. Ensour’s passion for leadership and civic engagement emerged early. She actively participated in school clubs, including those supporting children with special needs, the yearbook committee, the physics club, and the arts club. She also participated in community events and election activities, fostering a deep sense of responsibility toward public service. Her commitment to making a difference extends beyond education, as she volunteers at food shelters, hospitals, and the Islamic Center of Passaic County. She also serves as a recycling community chairperson, advocating environmental sustainability. Her dedication has earned her several accolades, including the volunteer award, the outstanding achievement award at the 9th International Women’s Day, the outstanding contribution award during New Jersey Muslim Heritage Month, and senior recognition for her exceptional service. These honors reflect her unwavering commitment to both her community and professional excellence.
Beyond her career, Ms. Ensour enjoys spending time with friends, exploring new foods, and engaging in arts and crafts. She enjoys sightseeing, shopping, and visiting water resorts as part of her self-care routine. Looking ahead, she aims to expand her impact on a state or national level by supporting illiterate immigrants and strengthening community relationships. She is passionate about civic engagement, women’s representation in politics and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), and advancing opportunities for marginalized groups. Ultimately, she aspires to pursue a career in the medical field while continuing her advocacy efforts.
Ms. Ensour also hopes to start a family and become a mentor or guest speaker for future generations. She uses her experiences to inspire others to lead, serve, and create meaningful change in their communities.
