Attributing much of her success to the support of her children, Capricia Cunningham was inspired to her career as a resource specialist out of a desire to help people access the multitudes of community resources that are available but not well known. Embarking on her education at Alaska Career College, she earned an Associate of Applied Science in business administration and computer technology in 2014, followed by addiction treatment certification from ICDC College in 2015. In 2018, she continued her studies with certification as a counselor technician from the National Board for Certified Counselors.
Since 2014, Ms. Cunningham has excelled as a re-entry employment and resource specialist with AmeriCorps and Nine Star Education & Employment Services. In this role she helps people access community resources, write resumes, seek jobs with a felony charge, and otherwise help people find opportunities that will benefit them. She is also a resources specialist with her own company, A Yunek Touch, which she founded in 2018 to empower individuals to accept and love themselves through wellness, self-inquiry and personal transformation.
Ms. Cunningham has always been a woman of great strength and is proud to have overcome numerous obstacles to achieve her success. Looking toward the future, she hopes to continue to be activist for members of her community and expand her skill set to help people going through processes with Social Security. Having accomplished much over the course of her career, she considers her greatest highlight to be the time she spent with the Department of Labor as an employment specialist, a position she was able to tailor to fit her needs as it was a brand-new position in the department.
Alongside her primary career responsibilities, Ms. Cunningham has been very involved with the Peer International Pageant. In 2015 and 2018, she won awards as Ms. Alaska and in 2021 she was able to participate more fully in the entire pageantry experience during the 2021 Peer International Pageant in Ohio. Other recognitions to her name include induction in to the Who’s Who Directory of Accomplished Executives and Professionals, Covington Who’s Who, the Global Directory of Who’s Who and Global Who’s Who. Ms. Cunningham has also been affiliated with AmeriCorps since 2014 and holds membership with the International Association of Women, the National Society of Leadership and Success and the National Association of Professional Women.
