Specialized in several areas of home finance including mortgage lending, first time home-buying, loans, government lending, FHA and VA lending, condos and renovation, Sofia A. Travayiakis had a small job that she was doing while she was finishing her senior year in high school. After she started college, she was on the pre-education track, but was really intrigued by the mortgage professionals she met when she bought her first home at age 20. Ms. Travayiakis realized then that this was something she really wanted to do, and was also influenced because of an interest in real estate.
Ms. Travayiakis began her professional career in operations and processing at Assurance Mortgage in Salt Lake City in 1997, remaining in this position for five years before becoming a loan officer at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage in Salt Lake City from 2002 to 2004 and New York Mortgage in Newton, Massachusetts, from 2004 to 2006. She then served as a mortgage consultant at Countrywide Home Loans in Peabody, Massachusetts, from 2006 to 2008, branch manager at Greenpark Mortgage in Boston from 2008 to 2013 and mortgage banker at RMS, Residental Mortgage Services, Inc., in Boston from 2013 to 2015. Currently, Ms. Travayiakis serves Mortgage Network, Inc., in West Roxbury, Massachusetts, as branch manager since 2015.
Prior to the start of her career, Ms. Travayiakis graduated from Olympus High School in Holladay, Utah, in 1997. She then pursued a formal education at the David Eccles School of Business of the University of Utah, where she attained a Bachelor of Science in business and corporate communications in 2002. In addition to these academic honors, Ms. Travayiakis is an Expert Network Distinguished© mortgage professional through ExpertNetwork.
Active in her local community, Ms. Travayiakis was involved with the PYA and the Pancretan Association of America in 1990. She also instructs dance in the local Greek community. She is also a supporter of Angel Smiles and Boston Children’s Hospital. A member of the National Association of Professional Women, Ms. Travayiakis was named the Top 1% Mortgage Originator in America between 2014 and 2018, and was listed among The Boston Agent’s Who’s Who in 2017 and Best in Real Estate in 2018. She was also named among the Top Women Originators by Scotsman Guide Media in 2018, as well as an Agent’s Choice finalist, and was a featured mortgage professional in Top Agent Magazine.
Moving forward, Ms. Travayiakis would love for her team to grow more, and she would like to continue to teach the younger generation. She attributes her success to hard work and support, and she wants to inspire more women to be in the field because there are not a lot of women in the mortgage banking field. Today, Ms. Travayiakis is a mother of three and loves watching her children play sports, going to the beach, dancing and listening to music.
