Demonstrating a leadership style marked by commitment to developing financial products and generating financial returns for investors, Heather Lauren McGee has served as the principal and chief executive officer of Intentional Asset Management since 2024. Her responsibilities encompass running the business as a corporate entity, overseeing all associated companies and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Ms. McGee has established herself as a leader in the field through her expertise in financial product creation, entrepreneurship, impact investing and measurement of impact. She specializes in identifying opportunities for transactions that address social and environmental issues while also achieving their primary goal of generating profitable outcomes.

Prior to taking on her current position, Ms. McGee joined International Asset Management (then operating as 17 Asset Management) in 2018 as an impact consultant. She co-founded this new endeavor alongside John Morris, the company’s current executive chairman. After showcasing her ability to track and quantify the impact of activities across supply chains, she became an investor relations specialist, building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to enhance the company’s reputation in the asset management sector. In 2020, Ms. McGee was promoted to director of operations at Intentional Asset Management — a role in which she supported the firm’s expansion into new markets. She was the company’s chief operating officer from 2022 to 2024, playing an instrumental part in the company’s growth and transition to its new name and overseeing all daily operations.

Before her affiliation with International Asset Management, Ms. McGee contributed her skills to Social Capital Markets (SOCAP) as a business development associate for several years, connecting with other entrepreneurs and advancing the field of social impact investing. From 2016 to 2017, she supported philanthropic initiatives as a program associate for the Pershing Square Foundation. Ms. McGee’s early career includes tenures as operations manager at Ramius Alternative Solutions LLC and as an operations manager and campaign fundraiser for the Utah Democratic Party. Her professional life began in 2012 as a manager for Jen Seelig’s campaign for Utah State House District 23 — a successful effort that built a strong foundation in grassroots organizing and leadership under pressure.

Among Ms. McGee’s most significant achievements is the launch of the Caribbean Food Systems Growth (CaribGROW) Fund, a $100 million private equity fund focused on addressing food security issues in the Caribbean region. This initiative seeks to reduce the region’s reliance on food imports by investing in local agricultural enterprises. Ms. McGee takes great pride in the CaribGROW Fund, considering it one of her top accomplishments. It represents an unprecedented effort in boosting a vital emerging market.

Ms. McGee’s professional performance was born of her academic background. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in political science and campaign management from The University of Utah in 2014. Subsequently, Ms. McGee earned a Master of Public Administration in public and nonprofit management and public policy with subspecializations in social innovation and investment from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service in 2019. Further solidifying her credentials, she completed certification as a uniform investment adviser from (Series 65) from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority in 2025.

Throughout her career, Ms. McGee has been recognized for her dedication to entrepreneurship and community service. She received the Social Entrepreneurship Award from New York University in 2019 for her contribution to innovative social ventures. Ms. McGee’s extensive civic involvement includes volunteering with her local church and Equality Utah, and as a success coach for The Door, a New York-based nonprofit dedicated to youth development. She served as a board member of the Sunstone Education Foundation for nine years and regularly devotes time to community charity efforts, such as feeding the hungry. Outside of her career and social responsibilities, she enjoys writing and in-line skating.

Attributing her success to both internal drive and external support systems, Ms. McGee maintains an unwavering belief in the value of incremental progress. She intentionally surrounds herself with individuals who share this mindset, fostering an environment where collective belief makes ambitious goals attainable. Embracing this attitude as she moves forward, Ms. McGee plans for Intentional Asset Management to shift toward creating proprietary financial products for its own portfolio while continuing to assist clients with wealth management solutions tailored to their values and interests. As the company’s assets and team capacity expand, she remains committed to using a nimble organizational structure to solve complex problems in emerging markets through impactful private investments and scaling capital.
