Prior to this appointment, Dr. Denslow worked as the senior director of external innovation at Eisai Inc. from 2021 to 2025 and previously as the director of external innovation of rare diseases and rare blood disorders at Sanofi from 2020 to 2021. Across more than a decade, from 2008 to 2020, she advanced through several roles at The Boston Consulting Group, where her work concentrated on pharmaceuticals, rare diseases, and neurology. She started as a healthcare analyst before becoming a biopharma senior analyst and lead knowledge analyst. By 2017, she was excelling as a biopharma R&D knowledge expert. Over these 12 years, she facilitated a collaboration among various laboratories to develop innovative technologies that were unconventional and forward thinking. Despite facing numerous challenges and transitions, she successfully brought these initiatives to fruition.
Dr. Denslow gravitated toward her career path at an early age, driven by the personal experience of losing a brother to asthma. Rather than pursuing a traditional medical bath, though, she chose to engage in research. Her educational journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in neuroscience from Wellesley College in 1989, followed by a Master of Science in biology from the University of Virginia in 1994. During this time, she had the unique opportunity to contribute to a groundbreaking project involving the Space Shuttle Columbia during its mission in 1998. The ambitious research aimed to explore the effects of microgravity on brain function; she and her team were fortunate to be the first among eight to 12 collaborating laboratories, focusing on the brain activity of animals raised in space’s peculiar environment.
In 2000, Dr. Denslow attained a Doctor of Philosophy in neuroscience from the University of Virginia, after which she completed a five-year postdoctoral fellowship in immunology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center within Harvard Medical School. During her fellowship, she identified and characterized a novel class of calcium channels in immune cells and prepared associated patents. She also concurrently served as a biotechnology consultant at Penny Lane Partners, LP, followed by a position as a market analyst for Becton, Dickinson and Company before joining The Boston Consulting Group. Outside of her primary endeavors, she has been active in her field authoring and refining grant applications for bother her work and that of her colleagues, in addition to editing articles for prominent scientific journals. Her academic contributions include teaching clinical neuroscience to second-year students at Harvard Medical School, with a focus on neurological diseases, their underlying mechanisms, diagnoses and available treatments.
Dr. Denslow has long been a member of several organizations including the Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Association, since 2021, Society for Neuroscience, since 1990, and was previously affiliated with Healthcare Businesswoman’s Association. She has consistently engaged with diverse groups, fostering relationships that enable collaborative progress toward realizing new projects. She has emphasized that, while possessing expertise and state-of-the-art technology is essential, success is contingent upon cultivating trusted, valued relationship. For her, the most gratifying aspect of her role is the opportunity to build these connections and collaborate with intelligent individuals committed to achieving results through creative thinking. She takes pride in her capacity to unite different groups, which she has consistently demonstrated this ability throughout her career.
