With her career in cybersecurity spanning more than a decade, Dr. Mavis Ofe has established herself as a leading authority in artificial intelligence (AI), governance, risk, compliance and entrepreneurship. She currently owns and operates two firms: Eyongest Technology, a cybersecurity consulting company that provides training to upcoming professionals in the governance space; and Tyto, an organization she founded in 2025 that currently manages cybersecurity and AI components in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Justice. Dr. Ofe builds secure AI systems, supervises security officers, writes policies and conducts failover testing. Her duties include training students and performing regular business operations.

In addition to those ventures, Dr. Ofe is also the founder of MentorMa, a platform that connects those seeking mentorship with experts across medicine, engineering, technology and other fields. This initiative was inspired by her own experiences navigating her early career without guidance. Dr. Ofe views MentorMa as one of her greatest career achievements. She continues to work closely with developers to improve the platform’s reach and effectiveness.

Prior to her current work with the Department of Justice, Dr. Ofe served as an information system security representative for the FBI in 2025. For several years before that, she held the position of information systems security manager at OPEXUS. Dr. Ofe’s earliest professional work with the government came in 2018 as a contractor for the National Institutes of Health. In this capacity, she supported federal health initiatives by implementing robust cybersecurity measures.

Dr. Ofe’s performance in the field was shaped by her academic journey, beginning with a 2006 bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Buea in her home country of Cameroon. After immigrating to the United States in 2015, she obtained a master’s degree in cybersecurity technology from the University of Maryland Global Campus in 2020. Subsequently, Dr. Ofe earned a doctorate in computer science, specializing in cybersecurity and information assurance, from Colorado Technical University in 2023. Her credentials are further backed up by a wide range of certifications, including in advanced AI security management, as an information system security professional and as a cybersecurity maturity model certification registered practitioner.

Lauded for her achievements, Dr. Ofe has been recognized by numerous professional organizations and accolades. Most notably, she received a Certificate of Appreciation from the U.S. Department of Labor for her contributions to the development of jobs in the cybersecurity sector. A prolific author and speaker, Dr. Ofe has written several books, including 2025’s “Unstoppable: The Rise of Africa’s Daughters.” Her next book, “Governing Artificial Minds: A Complete Guide to AI Systems, Risk, Security, and Governance,” is scheduled for publication in 2026.

Dedicated to civic advocacy beyond the MentorMa platform, Dr. Ofe is the co-founder and president of the MaMiMa Global Foundation Inc. This organization supports young leaders navigating the technology and health care sectors and assists small businesses in their growth journeys.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Dr. Ofe is a loving wife to Capt. Dr. Raymond Ofe and a devoted mother to four sons, whose inspiration motivates her continued success. Looking ahead, she aims to play a key role in advancing AI development by helping organizations build applications that leverage this groundbreaking technology. Dr. Ofe hopes to collaborate with AI companies to enhance the security and accountability of these tools.
