LYNN HOSTETLER

Lynn Hostetler

Since 2024, Lynn Hostetler has held the position of law office administrator at Foster Garvey PC, a well-regarded firm specializing in the complex legal needs of businesses, government entities, and individuals across six cities in the United States. Ms. Hostetler is responsible for conducting candidate screenings, handling terminations, counseling staff, and providing guidance to help clients and colleagues navigate challenging situations. In the same capacity, she develops training resource manuals and conducts skills assessments with legal assistants. Her expertise in employment law has been instrumental in her ability to solve workplace issues and foster a collaborative environment.

Before joining Foster Garvey PC, Ms. Hostetler gained experience as a law office administrator at Epstein Becker & Green PC, Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP and at Gordon Reese Scully Mansukhani LLP (formerly Gordon & Rees). Across these roles, she refined her leadership abilities and developed a reputation for effective problem-solving and staff management. While working with Gordon & Rees at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ms. Hostetler coordinated an urgent office relocation for a staff of 50 just before a citywide shutdown, devising and executing a plan that enabled the move to be completed in just two days without incurring overtime costs or interrupting operations. Transitioning to Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP later in 2020, she continued to showcase a reliably steady hand during periods of uncertainty, developing a comprehensive return-to-office strategy for the firm, which helped it retain talent.

Ms. Hostetler’s earlier professional experience includes tenures as litigation team lead at Dunn Carney LLP and as a paralegal and office manager at Hitt Hiller Monfils Williams LLP. She started her career journey in 2009 as a recruiting associate with MDC Research. Throughout her career, she has credited her advancement into management to the guidance of experienced mentors. She is most proud of connecting with these mentors — particularly Kelly, her paralegal mentor; Eric Neiman, an attorney; and Danny Hitt, an attorney and partner whose advice helped shape her approach to leadership at the first law firm where she worked . From these trusted colleagues, Ms. Hostetler learned that calm is a form of mastery, that one does not have to engage in every conflict presented in the industry, and that supporting others only enhances one’s own success. These lessons have guided her management style and significantly contributed to her professional accomplishments.

Prior to pursuing her ambitions, Ms. Hostetler sought an education that would provide a firm foundation for her future. She earned her paralegal degree in 2012, paving the way for subsequent roles in legal administration and support. Ms. Hostetler enhanced her credentials by becoming certified in human resource management at Portland State University in 2020. These academic achievements have equipped her with legal knowledge and human resources expertise essential for navigating a myriad of employment law matters.

Ms. Hostetler is recognized for her commitment to professional development through her affiliation with key organizations. She is a member of the Portland Human Resources Management Association, The Association of Legal Administrators, the Oregon Paralegal Association, and the National Association for Legal Support Professionals. Ms. Hostetler was honored for her contributions to the field, receiving the Pro Bono Award from the Oregon Paralegal Association.

Alongside her professional responsibilities, Ms. Hostetler has demonstrated a broader emphasis on supporting her community. She formerly served as a coach for Gladstone Cheerleading, a competitive youth and high school cheerleading program in Oregon. Ms. Hostetler has also volunteered with Glasgow Youth Cheer and the Gleaners Community Food Bank. Her dedication to community involvement reflects her belief in building others up — a value instilled in her by her mentors.

Beyond her career and her continued enjoyment of coaching cheerleading, Ms. Hostetler values the time she spends with her son. Looking ahead, she plans to pursue certification from the Society for Human Resource Management. Having already established a professional legacy distinguished by steadfast leadership, expertise in employment law, and commitment to mentorship, Ms. Hostetler aspires to advance to a directorial role in her field.
