Sidrah Khan

Sidrah A. Khan, PhD, has emerged as a transformative leader in social work and human services, blending practical expertise with a passion for preparing the next generation of professionals. As clinical assistant professor of social work and human services and field director at Kennesaw State University, she teaches master’s level courses while guiding undergraduate students exploring careers in nursing, health care, case management, and nonprofit advocacy. She places students in internship sites throughout Atlanta and mentors them through hands-on experiences, emphasizing the importance of service to clients.  

Dr. Khan’s academic background has laid the foundation for her professional achievements. She earned a Doctorate in Social Work with a focus on administration and leadership from the University of Kentucky. She completed a Master of Social Work degree specializing in clinical social work at Kennesaw State University after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Georgia State University in Atlanta.  

Dr. Khan is also the owner of Khanscious Healing, LLC, where she applies her knowledge to support individuals and communities outside of academia. Through this practice, she offers guidance rooted in emotional awareness, personal development, and holistic understanding, creating spaces where clients can explore their goals with clarity and confidence. Her commitment to service is evident in her mentorship, ensuring that those she assists are equipped to make meaningful contributions to society. 

Before joining Kennesaw State University, Dr. Khan gained extensive experience in school and behavioral services. She was a school social worker with Henry County Schools, supporting students and families with mental health needs and crisis interventions. She helped establish the state’s first Crisis Response Team following a high school shooting, collaborating with local organizations to provide thousands of supplies and resources to affected students. She also worked as a behavioral therapist and outpatient therapist, offering trauma-informed care and individualized mental health support. 

Throughout her career, Dr. Khan has received recognition for her dedication and leadership. Her awards include the Friends of Children Award for outstanding support and service to students and families in Georgia, as well as the Educational Support Personnel of the Year honor from Dutchtown Middle School within Henry County School District. Her professional accomplishments reflect her commitment to excellence in education, mental health, and human services. 

Dr. Khan is an active member of multiple professional organizations. She participates in the School Social Workers Association of Georgia as an affiliate and LEAD member, the National Association of Social Workers, and Phi Alpha Honor Society. These affiliations provide opportunities to influence policy, advance professional standards, and contribute to the broader social work community. 

Beyond professional responsibilities, Dr. Khan is civically engaged. She volunteers with Relay for Life of Greater Heights, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Toys for Tots, Families First, Atlanta Community Food Bank, Hands on Atlanta, Georgia Cares, Habitat for Humanity, and the Partnership Against Domestic Violence. She has coordinated back-to-school initiatives and donates to local organizations, reflecting her commitment to giving back across multiple sectors. 

Looking ahead, Dr. Khan aims to become a licensed clinical social worker and implement programmatic improvements in higher education, aspiring to leadership roles such as program director or department chair. She continues to inspire colleagues, students, and communities through advocacy, education, and mentorship.
