Amanda Carroll has devoted her career to obstetrics and gynecology, combining medical expertise with a deeply personal approach to patient care. As a physician at Mercy Clinic OB/GYN-Jefferson, part of Mercy Health, she provides a comprehensive range of services, from preventive care and routine exams to the management of complex pregnancies and gynecological procedures. Her surgical proficiency includes hysterectomies, dilation and curettage, loop electrosurgical excision procedures and tubal ligations. She is also on call for deliveries, including high-risk cases and cesarean sections, and responds to urgent situations such as ectopic pregnancies and acute bleeding emergencies.
Dr. Carroll’s educational background laid the groundwork for her medical career. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology and a bachelor’s degree in medical sociology at the University of Central Arkansas. She continued her studies at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine at A.T. Still University, where she received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. She then completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology through the Statewide Campus System affiliated with Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine at Garden City Hospital. She holds board certification from the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, further underscoring her commitment to excellence in the field.
Central to Dr. Carroll’s professional identity is the satisfaction she finds in her relationships with patients and families. She takes special joy in delivering babies and watching those children grow up in her community, often serving multiple generations within the same family. Her role extends beyond clinical care, as she frequently visits with families after childbirth, sharing in the moments of joy that come with welcoming a new child. She also provides long-term care to older patients, many of whom come to her for pessary fittings, and she values the bonds she has built with women well into their later years.
Before joining Mercy Clinic OB/GYN-Jefferson, Dr. Carroll practiced as a physician at Heartland Women’s Healthcare, where she strengthened her clinical skills in women’s health and developed a reputation for compassionate care. She is also a member of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health, through which she remains connected to advances in medical research and best practices in her specialty.
Dr. Carroll credits her success to the example of her father, who first inspired her interest in medicine when he taught science. She recalls reading his biology textbooks as a child and developing a fascination with anatomy. This curiosity eventually became a calling after she discovered her passion for obstetrics and gynecology while watching “The Baby Story” on TLC during junior high school. Inspired by these early influences, she has always made attentive listening a cornerstone of her care.
Dr. Carroll’s dedication extends beyond her clinical practice. She has committed herself to service through medical volunteerism with Adonai International Ministries, reflecting her desire to share her skills with underserved communities. She also takes pride in her personal achievements, including graduating as valedictorian of her high school class.
Looking toward the future, Dr. Carroll hopes to build greater financial security for her family while continuing the work she loves. She also envisions expanding her mission work, drawing on previous experiences abroad that left a lasting impression on her sense of purpose.
