A sought-after leader on dual fronts, Tania Correia Assunção is the director of the Centralized Eligibility Office within the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance as well as a certified mindset and empowerment coach and mentor at Flow Easy Coaching and Mentorship. Early in her life, while growing up surrounded by civil war and the hardships of hunger, displacement, and much more in her birthplace of Angola in Southern Africa, she could only dream of the success she enjoys today.

Surviving such upheaval, however, was the foundation for Ms. Correia Assunção developing the strength, fortitude, empathy, and unique insights into other people confronted with profound challenges. Given the chance as a teenager, she embarked on a new life, relocating more than 8,000 miles away in the United States, unaware of her journey to come. Yet, facing her future head on, she embraced the inevitable challenges and changes in culture and language that ultimately led to unforeseen, outstanding professional opportunities and experiences.

As the director of the Centralized Eligibility Office in the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance, Ms. Correia Assunção is responsible for three distinct teams, each addressing critical areas that include, yet are not limited to, department employee cases, special projects, funeral services, rest home cases, and support for new arrivals in the state. She also is a mentor and co-chair within the agency. Praised for her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, she built team unity and prevented isolation among remote workers. To maintain a supportive work environment, she continues to encourage daily connections between team members.

In her parallel role as a certified mindset and empowerment coach and mentor at Flow Easy Coaching and Mentorship in Boston, Massachusetts, since 2024, Ms. Correia Assunção is propelled by her own dedication to personal growth and her desire to reconnect with clients individually. It is through this venture that she has been able to pull from overcoming her early struggles in life to help career-driven mothers to push through barriers, realize their potential, and reach their goals. In the future, Ms. Correia Assunção hopes to start a wellness center for women of all ages to improve their mental and physical well-being.

In academic and practical preparation for her career, Ms. Correia Assunção began sharpening her critical-thinking skills and understanding of social systems earning a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice with minors in English and psychology from Newbury College in Brookline, Massacusetts. Bolstering her prowess, she later secured a litany of additional credentials, such as a certified life coach from the Jay Shetty Certification School as just one example. Moreover, her leadership, communications, and approach to team building and making human connections have been enhanced by her involvement with Tony Robbins’s Inner Circle and Dean Graziosi’s Mastermind Business Academy.

A champion of causes close to her heart, Ms. Correia Assunção is active with charitable organizations, including supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. More personally, married to Igor and the mother of two children, she cherishes time with her family and enjoys nature, soaking in the summertime sun at the beach, and dining out.
