
With more than 25 years of experience, Katie Boswell has established herself as a distinguished professional in information technology, specializing in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence security services. Throughout her career, she has become an expert in helping large Fortune 50 enterprises develop robust cybersecurity strategies, including identity and access management. She joined KPMG in 2014 as the manager of cyber security services, after which she became the operations lead of cyber security services in 2015, remaining in this role for five years. Ms. Boswell advanced to the role of director of cyber security services in 2018, and in 2022, she accepted the role of managing director, leading the artificial intelligence security services division, where she plays a key role in helping clients establish and maintain trust in their AI systems.
Ms. Boswell’s experience also includes tenure as director of IT infrastructure at Truist from 2009 to 2014 and senior engineer at LBMC from 2005 to 2008. Her early career also saw her working as an IT manager at NetAid from 2002 to 2003 and as a systems administrator at Razorfish from 2000 to 2002, during which she developed her comprehensive understanding of IT infrastructure and systems management. Ms. Boswell began her career as a systems network administrator and later as an IT manager with World Watch International from 1998 to 2000. She laid a strong educational foundation by completing coursework at The Chubb Institute in 1999 and Brookdale Community College. Committed to her professional development, she holds a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer certification.
Ms. Boswell’s professional success is rooted in the mentorship and support she received from colleagues in the cybersecurity field, who taught her the principles of servant leadership and client service. She has also contributed to publications on leadership, especially in the field of artificial intelligence, collaborating with KPMG and its partner organization, the Global Resilience Federation. Outside of her technical expertise, Ms. Boswell is deeply committed to promoting diversity and inclusion within the technology sector by serving on the DEI Committee of The Technology Council of Central Pennsylvania and as an advisory board member for Shared Assessments and Identiverse. Further, she plays a leadership role in supporting women in cybersecurity through her involvement with Women in Cybersecurity and the AI security community.
Driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact, Ms. Boswell aligns her professional work with her personal values. Her experience as a mother, especially when her daughter struggled to access inhalers during the pandemic, further solidified her commitment to ensuring that organizations can access the resources they need to operate effectively. One of her proudest achievements has been her role in building communities at KPMG. Ms. Boswell has made significant contributions by establishing new services, supporting the firm’s consulting business, and empowering others to grow in their careers.
Among her notable career achievements, Ms. Boswell received an award of distinction from KPMG, a recognition that reflects her hard work and determination. Despite not having a traditional academic background, with much of her expertise being self-taught, she rose to an executive role at a prestigious Big Four firm. She attributes much of her success to the mentors and support systems that have guided her throughout her career, as well as to the understanding and support of her family.
Ms. Boswell emphasizes the importance of listening and observing to understand clients’ needs, which has been central to her ability to turn challenges into opportunities. Her approach combines technical expertise with business acumen to help clients grow and scale their operations effectively. Looking to the future, she aspires to continue growing her family while advancing her career at KPMG, with the goal of becoming an equity partner. Ms. Boswell also aims to deepen her impact on the local community through ongoing civic engagement and support for initiatives that align with her values.
