Klara N. Brown, a private practice counselor and founder of Klara Nemes Brown, LLC, in Lakeland, Florida, has dedicated her career to helping individuals transform their lives through psychotherapy and coaching. Her foray into counseling began later in life after overcoming significant challenges and finding a new path in a foreign country. Originally from Hungary, Ms. Brown moved to the United States at age 27, accompanied by her seven-year-old child. She arrived with no family support, limited English proficiency, and no formal profession, yet she was determined to build a life for herself.

The transition to life in America was not easy. Ms. Brown had intended to build a future with her then-husband, but the relationship ended in divorce. She faced many obstacles when living in a new country without a strong support system. During this difficult period, she received mental health support that helped her find stability and direction. Through her healing journey, she became involved with a personal development company, which sparked her interest in mental health and self-improvement. This turning point began her lifelong quest to understand human experience and help others do the same.

Ms. Brown’s spiritual beliefs also have molded her life and career. She has a deep trust in the meaning of life, a belief that has guided her through challenges and shaped her approach to counseling. Her spiritual journey led her to study meditation and spend time learning from influential figures, including the Dalai Lama. During this time, she decided to pursue a more formal education in contemplative psychology, earning a Master of Arts degree from Naropa University in 2000. The combination of her spiritual background and academic studies laid the foundation for her work as a therapist.

Ms. Brown’s career in mental health began at Boulder Community Hospital, working as a crisis evaluator from 2000 to 2007. During this period, she was also a therapist and case manager at Boulder County Mental Health, focusing on supporting individuals through some of the most challenging moments of their lives. Her time as a crisis worker offered invaluable experience in understanding the complexities of mental health crises and the tools necessary for healing. She later transitioned to YouthTrack, taking on roles as a therapist and treatment coordinator from 2007 to 2009. In 2009, Ms. Brown took a significant step forward in her career by establishing her own private practice. Through Klara Nemes Brown, LLC, she provides psychotherapy and coaching services, specializing in relationships, women’s empowerment, and helping individuals become self-actualized. Despite lacking a formal business background, she has successfully navigated the complexities of running a business and continues to expand her practice. Her commitment to personal development as a counselor and a businesswoman has been instrumental to this achievement.

Ms. Brown’s professional qualifications are complemented by a range of certifications, including completing the Marriage and Family Certification Program in couples counseling at the Denver Family Institute from 2010 to 2011. She is furthering her expertise by pursuing certification as a relationship transformational coach, demonstrating her commitment to continual growth in her field. One of Ms. Brown’s most notable accomplishments is overcoming the trauma and obstacles that marked her early life. She came to the United States without formal education, yet she earned a degree in psychotherapy and established herself as a respected professional in her field. Her journey is a testament to her resilience, determination, and desire to help others find healing and purpose in their own existence.

In addition to her work as a counselor, Ms. Brown is involved in creative pursuits. In 2013, she published “How to Stop Escalating Conflict,” a guide that reflects her deep understanding of interpersonal relationships and conflict resolution. Her creative works and volunteer efforts as a hospital crisis worker illustrate her zeal for giving back to her community. Ms. Brown’s personal and professional lives are intertwined, as her experiences influence client relations. At 70 years old, she feels empowered and believes she can make meaningful contributions to the world. She draws inspiration from her daughter, who motivates her to keep learning, growing, and helping others. Ms. Brown is also grateful for her incredible mentors throughout her life, acknowledging that she would not be where she is today without their guidance and support.

Ms. Brown’s hobbies mirror her multifaceted personality. She loves dancing, gardening, painting, and entertaining people. She finds joy in caring for beautiful flowers and creating art, activities that balance her life and allow her to express herself differently. She also has received recognition for her early work as a hairdresser, winning first place in hair setting and earning accolades for her skill in haircutting. In fact, before pursuing her education in psychology, she worked as a hairdresser and cleaned houses to support herself. These experiences shaped her strong work ethic and her conviction that success comes from perseverance and dedication.

In the coming years, Ms. Brown envisions growing her business further and making an even greater impact on the lives of her clients. She aspires to build a thriving practice that fosters love, personal development, and empowerment, particularly for women. Moreover, she wants to inspire others to fulfill their true potential. The COVID-19 pandemic prompted Ms. Brown to shift her practice toward online services, a transition she has embraced enthusiastically. While learning to navigate the fast-paced world of technology has been challenging, she is still adapting and evolving. She is thankful for the mentors who have helped her along the way and for the opportunity to reach more people through her online business. This new venture has become an important tool for her, allowing her to connect with clients across greater distances and expand the impact of her work.

Ms. Brown’s story is one of resilience and growth. Her deep spiritual connection, combined with her extensive experience, makes her a unique and compassionate counselor. She believes in the importance of empowering others, especially women, to achieve their full potential and lead fulfilling lives.
