After graduating from Elizabethtown High School, Mary A. Brown began her career as a temporary worker with the Speedy Tax Preparation & Bookkeeping Service in 1999. Remaining with the company, she learned steadily every year of her employment, and eventually, after one of the co-managers left the company, she was presented with the opportunity to become a manager. Since 2014, she has served the company as the owner and chief executive officer. In addition to her work in tax and finance, Ms. Brown has branched out into the field of advertising, focusing on “word-of-mouth” promotions.
Today, Ms. Brown holds considerable expertise in individual income taxes and small corporation taxes, and she stays active in all parts of her business. If something needs to be done, she will work on it and complete it. Having accomplished much over the course of her career, she attributes much of her success to her ability to complete tax returns quickly as well as to treat others with respect, in line with her motto, “You are not just a number, you are a name.” To remain current with new developments in her field, Ms. Brown maintains professional affiliations with the National Association of Tax Professionals and the Better Business Bureau.
Active in her community, Ms. Brown gives back as a finance officer for the Cumberland County Association for Indian People and volunteers with her local church. As she looks toward the future, she plans to finish paying off her mortgage and then have an additional building constructed next to her house. She considers the most gratifying aspects of her career simply sitting and listening to her clients and treating people how she would want to be treated. For her excellence, Ms. Brown has been featured in Millennium Magazine, named a Marquis Who’s Who Top Executive, and presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
