KAY L. JOHANNES

Remembered as trustworthy, honest, kind, and fair, Kay L. Johannes really made a mark on the visual communications field. Her passion for art drove her to earn an Associate of Applied Science in visual communications at Milwaukee Area Technical College in 1972, and set her on the path she would follow the rest of her career. The same year she graduated, she obtained a position as an audio visual technician at Nicolet High School, and in 1977, she furthered her education with a Bachelor of Science in instructional technology from Rochester Institute of Technology.

Ms. Johannes experienced continuous advancement the rest of her professional journey. From 1977 to 1979, she was an animator and visual designer for Pohlman Studios, from 1979 to 1980 she was a multimedia designer for AV Centrum in Sweden, and from 1980 to 1982, she was the owner and producer for her eponymous company, Johannes. Ms. Johannes proceeded to join Photography Unltd. as an audio visual producer and The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company as a senior salestrack specialist for the visual arts. She retired from the post in 2012.

When Ms. Johannes wasn’t working, she was very active in her community. She was the chair of the Visual Communications Advisory Board at Milwaukee Area Technical College, a volunteer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ozaukee, a worthy high priestess of The Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, and a royal matron of the Order of Amaranth, Inc.

Now in retirement, Ms. Johannes is pursuing hobbies like motorcycles and computer web design. She also maintains positions as a volunteer docent of the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, the owner of Wisconsin Off Road Adventures, LLC, and a member of American Mensa, Ltd.
