Vickee Bundy Siemers has shaped the landscape of pharmacy in rural America with vision and tenacity. As president, pharmacist-in-charge and owner of HealthCare Plus, she has long been at the helm of operations that combine clinical excellence with community-focused care. Her expertise in intravenous (IV) infusion therapy and general pharmacy has enabled the growth of retail pharmacies across western Montana, extending vital access to previously underserved populations. Even amid the shifting tides of health care reform, her independent pharmacy stands apart by offering personalized medication packaging and complimentary delivery, meeting patients where they are both literally and medically.
Ms. Siemers earned a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and completed coursework in pharmaceutical sciences and administration at the University of Montana. A registered pharmacist, she brings a rigorous foundation of knowledge to her work. Raised on a Nebraska farm, she developed a relentless work ethic that continues to guide her leadership. This commitment to excellence is mirrored in her family, who share her values of diligence and service.
Ms. Siemers’ professional journey began as a hospital pharmacist in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she taught cardiac rehabilitation classes and provided specialized care in intensive care units. That formative period built the clinical foundation for later achievements. After relocating to Montana, she managed a hospital pharmacy before launching a home IV medication company that addressed critical care gaps in remote areas. She went on to own Bundy Management Inc., where she strengthened her skills in business administration despite lacking formal training in that discipline.
Under Ms. Siemers’ leadership, HealthCare Plus has become a pillar of rural health care, adapting to complex challenges while maintaining patient-centered services. When health care policy changes forced the sale of several retail divisions to corporate entities, she preserved the independence of her core pharmacy, continuing to meet the needs of patients who benefit from direct access and individualized care.
Ms. Siemers’ contributions have been acknowledged through nominations by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy and local recognition from the Chamber of Commerce. She is a member of The Rho Chi Society and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, affiliations that underscore her dedication to advancing the field and fostering professional collaboration.
Ms. Siemer’s civic involvement extends well beyond the pharmacy. She serves on the board of directors for the Boys & Girls Club and volunteers through the Lutheran Church. She has organized fundraising initiatives for libraries and environmental research facilities, reflecting a broader commitment to education, conservation and the enrichment of rural communities.
Outside of her professional and volunteer endeavors, Ms. Siemers enjoys an active life that includes gardening, swimming, baking, kayaking and traveling. Time with family remains a priority, and she takes pride in raising two children who share her deep sense of purpose. As she looks toward the future, she plans to transition ownership of HealthCare Plus to a successor who understands the importance of accessibility, trust and continuity in small-town health care. She also hopes to spend more time with her grandchildren, continuing to model a life of service, resilience and integrity.
