The professional journey of Tisha D. Boyd in learning and development began during her time in academia. She was chosen to facilitate customer service training for the university staff and faculty. As one of the youngest staff members, she never realized that the once nerve-racking experience would spark her interest in seeking training as a career.

In 2004, Ms. Boyd became a human resources trainer with Chevy Chase Bank, where she remained for five years before accepting a role as a training and development specialist with Bravo Health. From 2010 to 2012, she gained invaluable experience as a professional trainer with Maxim Healthcare Services, after which she was a learning consultant with Capital One until 2020. She spent a year as a learning and development manager with Cvent and then accepted her current position as the senior director of learning and development with Envestnet, Inc., managing all learning and development efforts, including leadership development and skills, and driving the performance management process. Ms. Boyd is responsible for setting up a formal learning and development team within the company and handles issues of employee engagement and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Envestnet, Inc. has offices in the United States and India, as well as employees in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Ms. Boyd works to manage the legal, human resources, leadership development, and training needs of the organization’s global team.

Throughout her career, Ms. Boyd has been dedicated to her own development. Highly credentialed, she holds a diversity and inclusion certificate from Cornell University and is a certified professional by the Society for Human Resource Management. She took training in diversity, equity, and inclusion with Artesian Collaborative Training in 2022 and completed the Chief Learning Officer Executive Program at George Mason University in 2023. Ms. Boyd also holds a certificate in mastering talent management from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, which she earned in 2023. To stay involved in her field, she has maintained membership in the Society for Human Resource Management.

Ascribing her success to the support and guidance of her mentors, she also credits the strong work ethic instilled in her by her parents. Her upbringing taught her the value of diligence, perseverance, and dedication, and she carries those lessons with her today. Among her achievements, Ms. Boyd considers integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) into the learning and development field as her most significant accomplishment. She believes the core of DEI entails teaching others to engage with differences in a meaningful way. At both Capital One and Envestnet, Inc., she was directly involved with leading the efforts to offer DEI training. Recognized for her prowess, in 2023, Ms. Boyd was listed among the “See It Be It Role Models” published in InvestmentNews.

While thriving in her primary roles, Ms. Boyd is committed to giving back. For years, she has been involved with Project Home, also known as the Certified Adult Residential Environment Program, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She volunteers for afterschool programs and school events at her local public schools and enjoys providing resources and services to individuals in the unhoused community. Additionally, since 2022, Ms. Boyd has served as a board member of the Envestnet Institute On Campus. Looking ahead, she intends to continue her philanthropic endeavors, hoping to contribute more to her community and influence younger generations. In particular, she hopes to help uplift young Black girls as well as girls from underserved communities.

Ms. Boyd plans to continue pursuing professional development and seeking new opportunities. In the long term, she hopes to dedicate more time to coaching in a formal context. Her passion for helping others is the most fulfilling aspect of her work, and she intends to keep it as the focus of her career.
