Having accrued more than 55 years of expertise in all elements of business development, Theresa L. Lovato Blair has distinguished herself as an electrical contractor and records manager. She began working as an office secretary at Sandia National Laboratory in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1964 and knew that she wanted to attend college. While working full-time, she attended the University of Albuquerque, where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1979. Ms. Blair completed a Master of Business Administration at Highlands University in Las Vegas in 1982.
Ms. Blair rose from the position of secretary to that of a records manager at Sandia National Laboratory in 1980. She would remain with the lab until 1987. In 1981, she earned her electrical contractor’s license and started T. L. Blair Electric, a contracting company. Proud of her success in contracting, a male-dominated field, she considers earning her contractor’s license at a time when very few women were entering the electrical field to be a career highlight. Ms. Blair is certified as a court recorder via the State of New Mexico and briefly worked as a full-time court recorder between 1988 and 1992.
Since 1993, Ms. Blair has served as a sales agent for Southwest Airlines. She is active in a number of local charitable initiatives, and is a former member of the planning and allocations council of the United Way of Greater Albuquerque. She is the author of several published articles and an avid collector of contemporary Southwest Native American ceramics. Ms. Blair is a member of the Association of Records Managers and Administrators.
Ms. Blair always says to treat others as you want to be treated. The mentor who motivated and inspired her was Randall Maydo, who was a department manager at Sandia National Laboratories. She is also thankful for her husband and family, who have always been supportive. Ms. Blair is happy to have a great career and family.
