
Stephanie N. Suerth is a seasoned compliance and ethics professional whose career reflects a deep commitment to institutional accountability, public policy, and community-driven impact. Since 2017, she has excelled as the executive director of accountability and compliance at the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
In this role, Ms. Suerth leads efforts to evaluate proposed federal and state legislation for its potential impact on the university and the broader higher education landscape. Her responsibilities include overseeing the university’s compliance hotline, ensuring that reports are properly triaged and addressed, and facilitating education and outreach efforts across campus. Additionally, she supports discrete projects within the university’s research enterprise.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Suerth served as grants manager at the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice in Baltimore City in 2015. In this role, she administered funding for programs designed to improve public safety and justice outcomes, including oversight of the supervised visitation center, a crucial resource offering safe environments for children interacting with parents involved in domestic violence cases.
Moreover, from 2009 to 2015, Ms. Suerth was the legal and government affairs manager at Learn-It Systems. During her tenure, she navigated complex regulatory frameworks to support the delivery of educational services.
Ms. Suerth notes that her academic and professional credentials have played a central role in shaping her success. She earned a Bachelor of Science in management from the University of Phoenix in 2015, followed by a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Baltimore in 2019.
Ms. Suerth is currently pursuing a PhD in business administration, with completion expected in March 2025. Her qualifications are further supported by specialized certifications, including a Title IX Coordinator certification from ATIXA, earned in 2023, and the Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional designation from the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics, earned in 2018.
Beyond her professional contributions, Ms. Suerth is a committed civic leader. She has served as chairperson of the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights since 2021 and has held board positions with the Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence since 2020 and the Irish Railroad Workers Museum since 2017.
Moreover, Ms. Suerth’s long-standing service as parliamentarian for the Friendly Daughters of Saint Patrick since 2013 and her sponsorship of BARKS, a Baltimore-based animal rescue organization, further reflect her deep ties to her community and passion for advocacy.

She shares her life with her spouse and is a devoted stepmother to three children. Outside of work, she enjoys painting, photography, and exploring new cuisines as an avid foodie.
