For more than 35 years, Stacey L. Chapman has exemplified innovation, leadership and commitment to community impact throughout her distinguished career. Serving as senior vice president of digital strategy at Burgerville LLC since 2017, she has been instrumental in leading the company’s brand strategy, community and local marketing, digital consumer experience, digital marketing, sports sponsorships, new business channels, social media initiatives, third-party loyalty programs and demand generation. Ms. Chapman held the concurrent role of director of marketing at Burgerville for several years, overseeing marketing strategy, brand positioning and restaurant portfolio management for the fast-food chain, which is known for its commitment to locally sourced ingredients. Her expertise in digital experience and revenue generation has positioned her as a leader in transforming the company’s approach to customer engagement and operational efficiency.
Prior to joining Burgerville, Ms. Chapman showcased her leadership abilities as chief operating officer at Hero Sports and head of business development at SportXast, driving strategic partnerships and new business opportunities in the sports technology sector. Her tenure as director of partnership marketing for the Portland Trail Blazers from 2013 to 2014 was highlighted by her development of innovative promotional campaigns. Years before her current position with Burgerville, Ms. Chapman first gained experience with the company in a consulting role as the director of sports marketing partnerships through The Holland Inc. During this time, she conceptualized and executed a promotional partnership with the Trail Blazers. This endeavor won the NBA Award for Best Local Team Promotion in 2013, beating out major competitors such as Sony and Nike.
Ms. Chapman’s entrepreneurial spirit was evident during her time as owner and principal of SLC Brand and Sports Marketing Consulting. She launched this consulting business in 2009, following more than 10 years with Nike Inc. Ms. Chapman joined Nike in 1997 as a Play Sports program manager, and was later promoted to community business relations manager, sports marketing manager, and U.S. brand manager. She began her professional journey in 1990 as a program officer at the LA84 Foundation — a Los Angeles-based nonprofit established with surplus funds from the 1984 Olympic Games — through which she supported youth sports organizations throughout Southern California. This formative experience instilled in her a lifelong dedication to service and community engagement.
Throughout her career, Ms. Chapman has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to creating opportunities for others — especially young women — to access sports. Among her most meaningful achievements are her efforts to foster cultural shifts abroad by developing a youth soccer league for girls in Abu Dhabi while consulting for a professional soccer club in the United Arab Emirates. Ms. Chapman worked closely with local schools and families to advocate for girls’ participation despite cultural barriers, helping parents envision new possibilities for their daughters. She made a similar impact in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, where she facilitated the creation of girls’ soccer teams within a league dominated by boys’ teams. To accomplish this, she engaged directly with families and encouraged fathers and uncles to coach.
Before venturing onto her vocational path, Ms. Chapman built a solid academic foundation. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of California, Berkeley in 1988. Ms. Chapman’s educational experience also fostered her belief in the power of sports to inspire and unite communities. During college, she excelled as a Division I soccer player and competed in the NCAA Final Four tournament.
Ms. Chapman’s professional accomplishments are complemented by active civic involvement. Since 2019, she has served on the board of directors for USA Artistic Swimming, the national governing body overseeing Olympic-level artistic swimming teams. In this capacity, Ms. Chapman helps ensure that athletes are prepared for demanding international competition. She is also an engaged member of her local synagogue.
The origins of Ms. Chapman’s success lie in her upbringing. She specifically credits her mother, a coach and role model, who inspired her to embrace the values of creativity, adaptability and resilience. These attributes have fueled Ms. Chapman’s ongoing desire to exceed consumer expectations and her ability to build authentic relationships across diverse communities. She finds fulfillment in creating experiences that bring joy, satisfaction, excitement and value to consumers, always striving to drive business growth in the most authentic way possible.
In addition to her career, Ms. Chapman enjoys hiking, kayaking, spending time on the water, connecting with friends and taking care of her dog. Looking to her future, she remains committed to advancing her knowledge of digital strategy and staying attuned to innovations shaping the world of consumer experience. Under Ms. Chapman’s guidance, Burgerville has expanded its presence in the Pacific Northwest and strengthened its reputation as a family-owned brand with a strong regional identity. The organization is sure to continue benefiting from her visionary leadership, creative problem-solving and enduring passion for empowering others.
