Silali Banerjee

Ms. Silali Banerjee has established herself as a specialist in applied artificial intelligence. She is involved in education, coaching, mentoring, and advising. Her career is marked by a nonlinear trajectory, including breaks for caregiving. She came back to full-time work after a long break as an instructor for a 14-week, full-time software engineering bootcamp in 2022. This required catching up with a rapidly evolving field of software engineering. In 2018, she attended a then-new ‘returnship’ program by iRelaunch. Later, when she actually started working a full-time teaching contract, the bootcamp was acknowledged by iRelaunch; they wanted to feature Ms. Banerjee’s journey as an example of resilience and dedication for women re-entering the workforce after extended breaks, but she declined to be featured at that time.

In 2023, Ms. Banerjee was an early adopter of then-brand-new applied generative artificial intelligence technology while working as the marketing head of a start-up, Beyond Exam. She received a performance award that year for that work. While working for the bootcamp in 2022, she became interested in career coaching and received a performance award from Wizco that same year for that work.

In 2026, Ms. Banerjee started working as an AI response evaluator for Meridial and as a Handshake AI fellow, evaluating AI responses in software engineering, human-AI communication and image generation. She likewise started serving on the advisory board for the Women in Leadership program with AI-driven Engagement at Rockford University.

In 2026, Ms. Banerjee also started offering courses for professionals on Maven, specializing in human-AI communication. She created her own framework and application to improve human-AI communication. In the same year, she started offering coaching services for AI-related areas on Leland Experts.

As an image contributor for Vecteezy under Eezy LLC since 2023, Ms. Banerjee shares her creative work with a global audience. Her creative pursuits include contributing images to Unsplash since 2023, where she achieved recognition as a top ten percent contributor. Her images were featured many times on Unsplash and also on Pexels.

Ms. Banerjee is an avid volunteer. She volunteers as a mentor and career coach for organizations like Women Who Code, Codepath, and Mission Bit. She also volunteered as a brander and marketer for several non-profits through the platform CatchaFire, including Keweenaw Family Resource Center, Colabria Foundation, and Love Ministries Outreach International Inc.

Ms. Banerjee also volunteered for the Minnesota Council for the Gifted & Talented. She worked as a web redesign committee member, outreach committee member, board member, and science fair chair of her local chapter of the organization. Ms. Banerjee also volunteered for the NorthSouth Foundation.

Ms. Banerjee pursued an education at Jadavpur University in Kolkata, from which she earned a Bachelor of Science in physics with minors in mathematics and chemistry in 1984. She subsequently continued her studies, earning a Bachelor of Technology in radiophysics and electronics at the University of Calcutta. In 1989, she graduated from the University of Calcutta with a Master of Technology in radiophysics and electronics.

To stay current with the latest technology, Ms. Banerjee pursued extensive certifications through MITx, Stanford Online and DeepLearning.AI, ColumbiaX, Wharton Online, the California Institute of the Arts, the University of Michigan, and UC San Diego. She also earned professional certifications from Hackerrank and similar platforms after returning from her long break.

Ms. Banerjee attributes her success to the encouragement she received from her parents and schoolteachers during her formative years at a residential school inspired by Montessori principles. Overcoming societal expectations that often limited women’s participation in technical fields, she benefited from supportive mentors who empowered her to pursue unconventional paths when few women did so, and navigated male-dominated academic environments during her master’s studies.

During her student years, Ms. Banerjee received the Award for Proficiency in Bengali Language and Literature from Patha Bhavana Santiniketan. She was the Best All-Rounder Female Graduate at Jadavpur University. Ms. Banerjee received a Merit Scholarship from the Center for Advanced Study at the University of Calcutta and was also a finalist in the Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search conducted by Bose Institute in Kolkata, India.

Ms. Banerjee remains committed to challenging gender biases and age-related barriers within technology fields while supporting women’s advancement into leadership roles. She aspires to always perform at her highest level, regardless of age or gender distinctions, so she may leave a lasting positive legacy within her profession.
