Growing up in a small New England town, Robin R. Fintel, MD, decided at a young age that she wanted to pursue a career helping others. As a young woman, she volunteered as a candy striper and frequently spoke to doctors about their work. Additionally, she also gained valuable expertise working in one of the most prominent hospitals in the country. Today, she excels as a clinical assistant professor for the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. Additionally, Dr. Fintel serves as a physician with the Northwestern Medicine Physician Network.
In pursuit of her dream career, Dr. Fintel earned an MD from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 1982. Subsequently, she completed a residency at the Johns Hopkins University in 1983 and a fellowship at the Michael Reese Hospital Medical Center in 1987. She was also certified through the American Board of Internal Medicine. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Dr. Fintel is affiliated with the Chicago Medical Society, the American Medical Association, the Chicago Gastroenterology Association, the American Gastroenterology Association and the Northwestern Memorial Women in Medicine.
With a plethora of knowledge at her disposal, Dr. Fintel has contributed to such articles, research and publications as “Effect of glucocorticoids on myofibrillar protein breakdown measured by 3-methylhistidine output,” “The Effect of Glucocorticoids, Measured by Radioimmunoassay, upon the Kinetics of the Breakdown of Myofibrillar Protein Measured by the Excretion of Urinary 3-Methylhistidine” and “The Histopathology of Amyloidoisis in High and Low Leukocyte Mice.” Due to her outstanding body of work, she was recognized as a Top Doctor in Illinois and the United States in 2019. Looking toward the future, Dr. Fintel aims to consult in the field of gastroenterology.
Dr. Fintel attributes her success to being hard working and completely committed to doing what it takes to get the patient well. She loves the GI field and would like to work for as long as she can.
