Attributing much of her success to her perseverance and tenacity, Rachel A. Pfardrescher holds considerable expertise in firefighting and paramedicine. She earned an Associate of Applied Science in emergency medical service professionals from Lone Star College and is also a licensed paramedic and certified firefighter with the United States Department of Defense. Proud of serving her country with the U.S. Army, she is currently serving as a combat medic in her hometown unit in Houston, Texas, having previously completed military service with the multinational specialized unit.
Alongside her work with the Army, Ms. Pfardrescher has been an instructor for firefighters, paramedics and other EMS professionals since 2020. Previously serving as a firefighter for the Houston Fire Department for five years, she is now active with the Port of Houston Fire Department. She has also worked as an instructor for the American College of Surgeons’ Stop the Bleed program, teaching advanced cardiovascular life support and basic life support, and is a member and volunteer with both LifeGift and Donate Life Texas, two organ and tissue donation groups that she is incredibly proud to be a part of.
Ms. Pfardrescher further gives back to her community through supporting a variety of other organizations that aid in the transplant process, such as Nora’s Home, the Children’s Transplant Initiative, Emma’s Hugs, and Be The Match, among others. Other charitable and volunteer endeavors of hers include contributions to the PTSD Foundation of America, Hanging With Heroes, and the yearly Christmas stocking stuffer event put on by the Houston Fire Department. In addition, she has been active with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and previously was a Sunday school teacher for the WoodsEdge Community Church.
Looking toward the future, Ms. Pfardrescher intends to continue to advance in her career as an instructor for first responders. As she strives to better herself, she hopes to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree and also recently completed additional certification through the Houston Fire Department. Throughout her professional and civic activities, Ms. Pfardrescher has lived her life by the motto, “Learn to be better. Practice to be great. Together with like minds, we can change the future and lives.”
