Michelle Treadway

Michelle Treadway is a dynamic health care administration professional whose career reflects a steadfast commitment to advancing health outcomes, optimizing systems, and fostering collaboration across the health care continuum. As a freelance health care consultant at TREAD Healthcare Advisors LLC, she provides administrative strategies, vendor support, claims management, and population health management solutions for physicians and provider groups. In this capacity, she partners with payers to enhance programs and improve population health outcomes while facilitating communication among stakeholders from providers to vendors.  

Ms. Treadway’s achievements have been pivotal to her career advancement. She earned a Master of Business Administration degree in health care administration and management from Central Michigan University, a personal milestone she considers one of her proudest accomplishments. She also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in health care administration and management from Northwood University, and completed graduate certification coursework in strategic sourcing, strategic supply management, and supply chain management at Michigan State University in East Lansing. 

Before establishing her consulting practice, Ms. Treadway gained extensive experience at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, where she developed a deep expertise in government programs, compliance, and provider network management. During her tenure, she held key leadership roles that shaped her strategic approach to health care operations and organizational effectiveness. In her role as health care manager specializing in client relationship management, she oversaw commercial and Medicare lines of business for the UAW Retiree Benefit Trust. Acting as a liaison between external vendors and the primary customer, the UAW, she managed regulatory appeals through the Department of Insurance and Financial Services and directed grievance processes to ensure compliance and fairness. 

Earlier in her tenure, Ms. Treadway served as a health care manager in vendor relationship management, developing and implementing major vendor programs that significantly enhanced efficiency and cost control. Among her notable achievements was leading the creation of the Durable Medical Equipment Program in partnership with Quest Diagnostics and Joint Venture Hospital Labs, a cost-saving initiative that generated $9 million in savings for the organization. She considers this project one of her most rewarding professional milestones due to its measurable impact on both financial outcomes and patient access. 

Previously, Ms. Treadway held the position of senior health care analyst in government programs and ancillary provider contracting. In this role, she managed audits for Medicare Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and Medicaid programs, ensuring regulatory compliance while aligning with broader corporate objectives. Her analytical precision and problem-solving acumen contributed to the organization’s continued success in navigating complex health care systems. 

Ms. Treadway’s professional journey began as a medical biller, where she built a foundational understanding of revenue cycle management. Over time, she advanced to manage an otolaryngology practice specializing in ear, nose, and throat services, overseeing the revenue cycle for nine surgeons. This experience laid the groundwork for her later work as a consultant, where she provided revenue cycle management expertise to hospital systems across the region. 

Beyond her professional and academic achievements, Ms. Treadway has been deeply involved in organizations that promote leadership and professional growth among women in health care. Her memberships include the Worldwide Women’s Organization, the Detroit Women’s Leadership Association, the National Career Development Association, and the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Leadership Development Association – NMA Chapter 141. She was also honored with the Executive Leadership-Formula Blue Mentoring Program award for her dedication to mentoring emerging leaders. 

Outside of her career, Ms. Treadway enjoys a fulfilling personal life. Born in Warren, she takes joy in caring for her spirited Shiba Inu, enjoying daily walks and bike rides with her husband, Michael, and spending time at their cottage in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Looking ahead, she is focused on expanding her consulting business nationally and internationally, leveraging digital platforms such as Fiverr to extend her reach.
