Few designers blend creative vision with business strategy as seamlessly as Megan B. Daughtry, whose work reflects both a personal legacy and a professional mastery of residential design. As founder and principal designer of Proud House Studio & Company, she has shaped homes and spaces with a style rooted in craftsmanship, functionality and emotional connection. Inspired early on by her father, an architect and builder, she developed a passion for construction and design that would become the foundation of her career. Her journey in the design industry spans more than two decades and reflects a sustained commitment to innovation, leadership and mentorship in a traditionally male-dominated field.
Ms. Daughtry’s academic path began with an associate degree in business administration from Laney Community College in Oakland, California. This early education equipped her with the tools to build and manage a successful business. She later expanded her technical expertise by earning a certificate in kitchen and bath design from Front Range Community College, accredited by the National Kitchen & Bath Association. These credentials provided a vital balance of analytical and aesthetic insight, allowing her to merge design intuition with practical implementation.
Before launching Proud House Studio & Company, Ms. Daughtry built a robust foundation through a series of leadership and consulting roles. As principal designer at Second Nature Interiors, she refined her creative process and deepened her understanding of client needs. Her tenure as studio manager at On Board Experiential Marketing enabled her to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects in a fast-paced environment. As a business consultant with her own firm, she offered strategic guidance to companies navigating growth and brand positioning.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Daughtry gained significant retail management experience at prAna Living, working as both general manager and later manager of stores. These roles enhanced her ability to merge consumer insight with operational efficiency. Prior to that, she held positions at CP Shades and Candace Killman Interior Design, where she learned the day-to-day mechanics of store management and interior design support.
Ms. Daughtry is an active member of the National Kitchen & Bath Association and the American Society of Interior Designers. Her past service on a committee with the Interior Design Society further reflects her investment in the industry’s growth and the elevation of design standards. These affiliations allow her to stay connected with emerging trends while contributing her voice to broader professional conversations.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Ms. Daughtry draws strength from her spirituality, which she credits as a guiding force in both personal and professional decisions. Her values shape the way she leads, designs, and mentors others, providing a sense of clarity and resilience through every stage of her journey.
Looking to the future, Ms. Daughtry envisions expanding her firm’s reach beyond Colorado to serve clients across the country. She is developing educational resources for fellow designers and coaching them on evolving their business models to include product-based services, such as the sale of bathtubs and furnishings. Her upcoming retreat for designers at High Point Market in North Carolina demonstrates her commitment to fostering collaboration, creativity and growth within the design community.
