Maichi Tran, PharmD, envisioned creating a community-focused platform designed to support busy professionals and caregivers who often overlook their own well-being. In response, in 2025, she founded ZenCraft, where she is the integrative health and wellness coach, emphasizing self-care and holistic health. Dr. Tran draws on nearly two decades of experience in pharmacy and clinical practice as she “develops and leads programs focused on mindfulness, movement, nutrition, and nature; supporting individuals in fostering self-trust and resilience.” Further, Dr. Tran is a member of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, reflecting her personal commitment to ongoing professional development and a comprehensive approach to health.
Before launching ZenCraft, Dr. Tran held leadership roles at UMass Memorial Medical Center between 2003 and 2021. During these years, she specialized in cardiology and anticoagulation, providing direct patient care in intensive care units and across the health care system for individuals with thrombotic and hematologic disorders. A significant milestone was the launch of a pioneering clinical program in collaboration with a physician, introducing a previously unavailable service within a large health care system. This initiative notably supported a patient with a rare thrombotic disorder through a successful pregnancy by partnering with a pharmaceutical company to develop an innovative treatment plan. Throughout this process, Dr. Tran mentored residents and pharmacy students, underscoring the value of partnership and trust in patient care while advancing education within the field.
Moreover, Dr. Tran contributed to academia as an assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. In this role, she was instrumental in teaching, establishing pharmacy residency programs, providing immersive training for new pharmacists, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes. For her own education, she earned a Doctor of Pharmacy from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences-Boston in 2002. Following graduation, Dr. Tran completed a postgraduate American Society of Health-System Pharmacists-accredited pharmacy practice residency at UMass Memorial Medical Center in 2003. Expanding her expertise in thrombosis, she was awarded the North American Thrombosis Forum Traveling Fellowship in 2009.
Complementing her education, Dr. Tran holds additional credentials that have helped shape her multifaceted career. She is a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist with an added qualification in cardiology via the American College of Clinical Pharmacy; a certified professional in health care quality from the National Association for Healthcare Quality; and an integrative health and wellness coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Dr. Tran is also pursuing life coaching certification through the Chopra Coaching Learning Program.
Alongside her work ethic, Dr. Tran credits her many achievements to a support system comprised of family members, close friends, and colleagues who have provided encouragement throughout every stage of personal and professional growth. Her desire to give back is demonstrated through her civic engagement, including serving as vice president on the board of trustees at Shrewsbury Montessori School in Massachusetts and chairing its head-of-school search committee. She is also an adult certified leader and a fundraiser for Scouting America, as well as a parent ambassador for Worcester Academy.
Recognition for her professional prowess has been consistent throughout Dr. Tran’s career, with honors including the Champions of Excellence Team Award for Quality and Safety at UMass Memorial Medical Center in 2010, the Champions of Excellence Team Award for Pharmacy Education in 2008, Everyone is a Caregiver Award in 2007, the Champions of Excellence Team Award for the Inpatient Anticoagulation Consult Service in 2006, and Best Patient Care Team Award for the Acute Myocardial Infarction Task Force in 2006.
Born in the Philippines’ capital city of Manila, Dr. Tran cherishes time spent with family, including her two children, Audrey and Alexander. Her household is further enriched by two dogs and two cats, as well as her enjoyment of cooking.
Looking ahead, Dr. Tran hopes to create a physical space where community members can gather to experience connection, support, peace, and belonging—a setting that balances serenity with energy amid nature’s backdrops. The nonprofit would offer yoga classes, meditation sessions, and creative workshops while fostering partnerships with other nonprofit leaders and wellness advocates to empower individuals toward greater well-being.
