
Mae Yang, MS, CFEI, has established a distinguished career in finance and economic development. She currently excels as the founder and chief executive officer of MEG Financial Wellness, where she has been instrumental in promoting economic equity and driving social impact innovation through community engagement and financial literacy. MEG Financial Wellness offers personalized financial planning, insurance solutions, and Medicare guidance to help clients protect their health, life, and financial stability.
Concurrent with her work with MEG Financial Wellness, Ms. Yang serves as an economic development specialist with the Brighton Economic Development Corporation (BEDC). BEDC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering business growth in Brighton, Colorado, through relocation assistance, business retention and expansion services, and job creation initiatives. In this role, she plays a pivotal part in developing and implementing programs that support business retention, attraction, expansion, and entrepreneurship.
Ms. Yang’s career journey includes serving as a community protection victim specialist at the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office from 2017 to 2021, where she supported victims navigating complex legal processes. Before that, from 2014 to 2017, she worked as a human services technician for Boulder County in Longmont, Colorado. Her earlier experience includes roles as a network technician at Intrado from 2011 to 2014, an administrative assistant II at the Colorado Department of Revenue in 2010, a student temporary employment program intern at the Social Security Administration in 2009, and a student assistant III at the University of Colorado Denver from 2007 to 2009. Ms. Yang began her career as a programming assistant at the Community College of Denver from 2006 to 2007.
Laying a strong educational foundation, Ms. Yang earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Colorado Denver in 2009, followed by a Master of Science in criminology from Regis University in 2013. She has been a certified financial education instructor through the National Financial Educators Council since 2019 and holds an insurance producer license in life, accident, and health from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.
Beyond her professional achievements, Ms. Yang is deeply involved in her communities, contributing her time to organizations such as the Hmong American Association of Colorado, the Asian Pacific Development Center, the Hmong Student Association of Colorado, The Reentry Initiative, the People’s Advisory Board for New Educational and Economic Goodwill, and the I Have a Dream Foundation. Ms. Yang co-authored “Journey to Now: Deeply Honest Stories of Healing, Self-Discovery, and Transformation” in 2022 and maintains a blog with her sister featuring over 600 recipes inspired by their mother’s culinary expertise, learned from top chefs in Italy.
In recognition of her contributions, Ms. Yang has received several awards, including the Leadership/Service Award from Hmong National Development, the President’s Service Award from the Community College of Denver, and the prestigious LiSA award from the LiSA Initiative. She attributes her success to her deep-rooted passion for serving her community. With an unwavering commitment to making a difference, she dedicates countless hours to various initiatives. Known for her strong work ethic, Ms. Yang seamlessly balances her responsibilities while always finding time to connect with others. Her ability to build genuine relationships and engage with people from all walks of life has not only fostered trust but also inspired many to join her in her efforts.
Ms. Yang balances her professional commitments with a fulfilling personal life as a mother to five children. She enjoys traveling, cooking, and interior design. Looking to the future, she envisions significantly expanding her clientele while cultivating her brand’s identity and increasing its market visibility. She also aims to address gaps in Medicare consulting within her community by opening multiple satellite offices across the country and developing an app tailored to community needs.
