Lynne Master

Lynne B. Master, the director and owner of the Learning Disabilities Clinic Inc. in Michigan for more than 65 years, has led an accomplished career helping children and adults with special needs. She oversees a team of psychologists, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and certified special education teachers who specialize in working with individuals who have learning disabilities, cognitive impairments, speech-language issues, emotional problems, and other challenges.

Moreover, Ms. Master supervises teachers, collaborates with the state of Michigan, and works with school districts, individual families, and welfare agencies to offer services and support. The Learning Disabilities Clinic Inc. was featured as one of the “Best Tutoring Companies in America” in Smart Money and in The Wall Street Journal Magazine. Learning Disabilities Clinic Inc. was the first accredited education clinic in the United States by the North Central Association of Schools in 1998, followed by Advanced Ed and Cognia, as a Special Purpose School. In addition, Ms. Master was recognized with a proclamation from the City of Oak Park, Michigan. Meaningfully involved with her field, she has been a member of the Learning Disabilities Association of Michigan, the Michigan Association of Learning Disabilities Educators, the Michigan Head Injury Providers Council, and the Michigan Inter-Professional Association.

rior to founding the Learning Disabilities Clinic Inc., Ms. Master studied education at Eastern Michigan University. She continued studying clinical psychology and education and graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Education in 1967. While pursuing her higher education, she worked as a corrective reading consultant for the School District of Highland Park from 1960 to 1968. Further solidifying her expertise, Ms. Master worked for more than eight years as a teaching faculty member at Wayne State University’s clinical psychology department in the College of Education training graduate students in school psychology and special education.

Ms. Master is a pioneer of Humanistic Judaism. She served as president of The Birmingham Temple, the founding congregation of Humanistic Judaism; president of the Society of Humanistic Judaism; president of the board of governors for the Institute for Humanistic Judaism, and the co-chair of the North American section of the International Federation for Humanistic Judaism. She also has held numerous positions with the Jewish Federation of Detroit and the Children’s Center of Detroit. Further, she was the vice-chair of the American Civil Liberties Union of Oakland Count as well as the national president of the Education Industry Association. Ms. Master believes that the more one does for others, the richer one’s own life becomes.
