Lex Cade-White

Lex J. Cade-White has emerged as a successful and respected leader who prioritizes service as the result of her unwavering drive, curiosity, and the support she has received during years of personal and professional challenges. At this point in her journey, the Rev. Cade-White is director of spiritual care at Cedar Community, a senior residence in Wisconsin, as well as an instructor and speaker at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Having a solid educational foundation while staying current in her profession, she holds a Master of Divinity in urban ministry and race relations from the Episcopal Divinity School, a Master of Public Health from Chamberlain University, and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and religion from Mount Holyoke College. Further, Rev. Cade-White is a board-certified chaplain through the Association of Professional Chaplains and has additional certifications in social and behavioral research from the CITI Program and in Leadership West Bend through the West Bend Chamber of Commerce.

Devoted to her wife, daughter, and grandparents, Rev. Cade-White has always been deeply connected to her family, faith and spiritual upbringing and believes that faith is an integral part of a person’s identity. Thus, the longtime expert on ability awareness, race, and gender pursued a career that would enable her to work toward justice and inclusion while respecting the importance of faith in people’s lives. Discovering her passion for pastoral care early, she finds joy in supporting individuals during their life journeys and transitions. As director of spiritual care at Cedar Community, Rev. Cade-White’s administrative and clinical roles involve running the department that has three other chaplains across seven sites. She helps, encourages, and supports the employees who report to her in carrying out their assignments as pastoral care providers and extends that support to residents and staff. Purposefully, she visits residents, leads worship services and Bible study, provides general pastoral care, facilitates department events and programming, works with the diversity advocates resident group, and much more.

In the course of being an instructor and speaker for the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Continuing Education, Rev. Cade-White is most proud of her diversity, equity, and inclusion certificate program (often abbreviated as DEI) and training with several health and human services departments in Wisconsin. Equally notable is her first-ever presentation at the 2021 Association of Professional Chaplains National Conference, where she focused on the current state of health care for black and brown patients and health care providers. Moreover, Rev. Cade-White is a writer who has authored poems and recently co-authored an article describing her path to becoming a chaplain. In the future, Rev. Cade-White envisions herself remaining a spiritual care leader within Cedar Community. She also aims to continue working with colleagues while mentoring, sustaining, and training aspiring chaplains and ministers by conducting informative presentations and educational sessions across various fields.

With vast career experience in the health care and pastoral sectors since 2010, Rev. Cade-White serves on the boards of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, Inc., the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, and the Sheboygan County LGBTQ Alliance. She is a member of the United Church of Christ and the Association of Professional Chaplains, for which she is the Wisconsin state representative and the state continuing education chair.
