LETITIA WHITE

Letitia White has successfully translated her lifelong passion for law and politics into an illustrious career as a senior attorney. She began by earning a Bachelor of Arts in history and archaeology from Indiana University in 1974 and proceeded to earn a JD from South Texas College of Law in 1986. While in graduate school, she made her start in the field as a paralegal. She is noted for being one of the first paralegals in Houston.

Upon graduation, Ms. White served as the in-house attorney for Burlington Resources from 1986 to 1998, and then served as senior attorney at Coastal Corporation from 1988 to 1989. She is presently utilizing her background in her role as the senior attorney for Total Petrochemicals & Refining USA, Inc., a leading multinational oil and gas company with operations in more than 130 countries that produces polypropylene, polyethylene, polystyrene, base chemicals, and petroleum-based products.  Ms. White’s responsibilities, as she represents the company, include being general counsel to the marketing and service branch in the U.S., managing transactional work from real estate to construction contracts, overseeing the transactions to purchase feed stock and sell products, advising and training the credit department, drafting and reviewing contracts, and advising the motor oil and industrial lubricant businesses.

​Several of Ms. White’s accomplishments during her career include the divestiture of a $20 million office building in Fort Worth, Texas, and the recovery of a $56 million tax refund. She worked on construction contracts for the revamping of a refinery in Aruba and increased recoveries on collections and bankruptcies in the late 1980s.

Keeping abreast of developments in her field, Ms. White has been involved with the American Bar Association, the American Association of Corporate Counsel, the Texas Bar Association, the Houston Bar Association, and Women in Real Estate, and the Business Law Section of the Bankruptcy Subcommittee of the American Bar Association. She also contributes to the United Way Worldwide.

Ms. White has been honored for her accomplishments in her profession as an AV-Preeminent Attorney by the Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating, and has received the 2017 Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award for leadership in her industry. She has also been featured in Elite American Lawyers for her dedication, achievements, and leadership in transactional law.

In her spare time, Ms. White enjoys exercising, attending the opera, reading, and traveling. In the years to come, she would like to move into a consulting role and retire.
