Katie W. Harris is a marketing expert currently making an impact as a partner in and chief operating officer of Get Found First, a digital marketing agency specializing in paid advertising, SEO and web design, and conversion management. Ms. Harris began her career in journalism. After earning an Associate of Arts in liberal arts from Ricks College and a Bachelor of Arts in communications and public relations from Idaho State University, she accepted a position as an assignment editor with The Morning News in 2008. Her interest in journalism was shaped by a lifelong passion for storytelling, and for the next four years, Ms. Harris focused on her work in media.
In 2010, she accepted a second position as an assistant editor for Bingham Magazine. While on assignment with Bingham Magazine, Ms. Harris met her future business partner, Michael Johnson, who shared his work in digital marketing with her as a part of the piece. She was captivated by the work and by the potential that marketing held to help businesses grow and help empower entrepreneurs to better articulate their message and goals.
In 2012, Ms. Harris left Bingham Magazine, convincing Mr. Johnson to hire her by telling him that she wanted to work in advertising and that his business needed her journalistic sensibilities and gift for narrative. She became a partner in Spot On Solutions, LLC, a digital marketing consultancy tailored to the needs of cleaning and restoration businesses, in 2012, where she began to build her knowledge base about the complexities of SEO management and digital marketing. While continuing her work with Spot On Solutions, Ms. Harris expanded her focus in 2015 when she became the chief operating officer of Get Found First, offering the same comprehensive digital advertising and conversion management services to a broader range of clients. She describes her business philosophy as being “driven to elevate people and businesses,” and operates with a client-centered, customer service-oriented ethos.
As chief operating officer, Ms. Harris is responsible for overseeing general operations and Get Found First’s team of 24 employees, including the development of a training and recruitment program that she describes as capable of taking new employees “from nothing to being experts.” She is a certified John Maxwell behavioral consultant, with additional credentials in training, coaching, personality assessment, and leadership, and she prides herself in her ability to effectively train and motivate others. She is the author of “12 Critical Steps to Take During a Company Rebrand,” which was published in 2019, and was named one of Adams Publishing Group’s 2020 Women of Influence and the owner of one of Inc.’s 5000 Fastest-Growing Independently Owned Companies in the United States the same year. Ms. Harris is a Google Premier partner and is active in Business Network International and the Pocatello Chamber of Commerce, and has been a member of the Forbes Agency Council since 2016.
Ms. Harris credits her success to her honesty, hard work, and focus on building and maintaining relationships, and is grateful to her husband for his support. She describes her journey as going from “telling someone’s story to being a part of the story,” and considers it a major accomplishment to be able to offer the same opportunity to others in the form of training, consulting and employment. As a part of her commitment to ensuring that all people have a chance to succeed, Ms. Harris is a volunteer advocate for children in foster care and state-administered protective custody, and a member of the board of the Bingham Community Foundation and the area Mayoral Scholarship Committee. Within five years, she looks forward to moving Get Found First’s offices into a historic building near the city center and continuing to grow, and hopes to one day work with her eldest child, who has acquired the same entrepreneurial spirit.
