Jo Ann Soule

Determined to provide for her family, Jo Ann Soule relocated from Iowa to Las Vegas with her 13-year-old daughter. She worked hard throughout her career in community development. Notably, Ms. Soule excelled as a senior management analyst for the Clark County Department of Finance.

In the aforementioned position, Ms. Soule has assisted in the renovation, building and funding of community buildings in her area. She has worked closely with builders and architects to develop a valuable community center in an outlying area. Additionally, she was responsible for reviewing payroll and ensuring that local government workers were being paid fairly for their work in accordance with the Davis-Bacon Act. Prior to this, Ms. Soule pursued a formal education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she attained a bachelor’s degree in business management. She later received a master’s degree in management from National University.

Originally, Ms. Soule moved to Las Vegas from Iowa; when she moved there in 1969, she had to find work, as she had a 13-year-old daughter to support at the time. She lucked out and was placed in the Clark County Clerk’s Office, which turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to her. Being able to transfer to the Department of Services later, Ms. Soule believes that her education helped her excel throughout her career. Today, she is proud to be the grandmother of three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Looking toward the future, Ms. Soule hopes to continue enjoying her retirement while dedicating her spare time to her loved ones. She has led a very physical life, teaching baton twirling and dance for nine years in Des Moines, Iowa. Once in Nevada, she spent time hiking and skiing on the weekends. She is also a published poet.
