After years in a variety of management positions, Jo Ann Jones-Burbridge decided to branch out on her own. She started an eponymous consulting firm to offer management and human resources services in 2013, and is thrilled to be able to use her skills in strategic planning, organizational development, and training to help people. Some other ways she meets her goals is through community involvement. She is active on the board of trustees of the American Leadership Forum, the Right2Justice committee of the Texas Organizing Project, the planning committee of Sunnyside Neighborhood, and the board of the Gulf Coast Trades Center and Raven School.
Prior to her current endeavors, Ms. Jones-Burbridge garnered experience as a juvenile probation officer, a training administrator for volunteers and interns, an assistant executive director, and a deputy director at the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department. She left to join the Texas Juvenile Crime Prevention Center at Prairie View A&M University in 2002 and stayed there until 2013. Her responsibilities throughout this journey included program design and development, prevention programming, and budget management.
Ms. Jones-Burbridge attributes her success to her parents, who encouraged, supported, and motivated her, as well as put her through school. In 1971, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Dillard University, and in 1975, she earned a Master of Arts in guidance and counseling from Texas Southern University. Looking to the future, she hopes to continue with her leadership responsibilities because she has put a lot of work into making sure people trust her.
When Ms. Jones-Burbridge isn’t working, she likes reading, public speaking, traveling, and researching.
