JANE H. CARROLL

Creative and passionate, Jane Carroll has loved art for as long as she can remember.  She started in the field as an author and artist at Winston Derek Publishers in Tennessee, and is now thriving as the owner of Jane Carroll Fine Art and as an artist, poet, and author at Lulu Press at Barnes and Noble. Ms. Carroll’s art has been featured in group shows like Avondale Art in the Afternoon, the Georgia Artists Invitational at the Atlanta Art Gallery, and the Telfare Museum Savannah, and in one-woman shows at venues like the Revis Lewis Gallery and the Ariel Gallery. Furthermore, she has authored “Artist Orchard,” “Dayspring,” “Grace,” “Intimate Moments,” and “Carriage of Hate,” and is represented in the permanent collections of the Greenville Memorial Hospital, the Embassy Suites, Macan Motor Cars, and Jenny Pruitt Reality. Her commissioned art includes landscapes, portraits, and family paintings.

Outside of her own artistic endeavors, Ms. Carroll lent her skills to her community through Arts in the Atlanta Project and Rehabilitation Education for Handicapped Adults and Children. She also joined and obtained leadership positions at a number of prominent organizations. Ms. Carroll was the chair of the Art Program of the National League of American Pen Women and the vice president and merit member of the Atlanta Artist Club, as well as a member of the Portrait Society of Atlanta. Additionally, she served as the assistant director of AID-Volunteer, the executive field director of the Northeast Georgia Girl Scouts, and as a teacher at A.C. Flora High School.

To prepare for her professional journey, Ms. Carroll completed portraiture studies with Nelson Shanks, Jim Schell, Marc Chatov, Nancy Honea, Daniel Green, and Thomasine Bradford between 1990 and 2009, and art studies with Dolores Kennedy from 1981 to 2004. She also earned a Bachelor of Art from the University of South Carolina in 1968 and completed coursework at Winthrop College in 1965.

Ms. Carroll’s hard work and talent didn’t go unnoticed. In recognition of her success, she was named Best of Show by the Georgia State Association of the National League of American Pen Women in 2012, and Best of Show by the Atlanta Branch Annual Show of the National League of American Pen Women in 2003, 2001, and 1987. Other accolades include an Award for Drawing and a Merit Ribbon from the Georgia National Fair, a First Place for Drawing Award from Savannah National, and inclusion in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who of American Women.

When Ms. Carroll has free time, she enjoys traveling, reading, yoga, and outdoor activities. She is also painting portraits of all of her grandchildren.
