Elizabeth Dudley

Seeking the opportunity to apply her technical skills in a professional environment, Elizabeth H. Dudley joined AT&T Bell Laboratories in 1959 and never looked back. She worked hard to prove herself and rose to the top based on the merit of her own work. Over the years, she was called upon to serve as a manager, security for the industrial research and scientific development company, applications systems coordinator of management information, systems and senior systems analyst, and systems programmer. Ms. Dudley also dealt with personnel at the company; she set up a database with personnel records, filed claims on equal opportunity, and managed the badge systems. Although she found her work there very rewarding, she ultimately retired in 1989. Her final position was manager of government security.

Ms. Dudley is proud of what she accomplished in her three decades of employment. She earned the opportunity to apply her expertise to a variety of aspects of the business, and excelled within the departments during her tenure with Bell Lab’s affirmation action, administrative systems and systems engineering. Ms. Dudley loved that every position she held gave her the chance to explore something new and to be innovative and creative. To help her prepare for her endeavors, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and economics from Brown University in 1959 and completed postgraduate coursework in econometrics at the University of California, Berkeley.

In retirement, Ms. Dudley enjoys shell crafting, reading, gardening, and volunteering. She has served as vice president of the board of the Boca Ballet Theatre Co., treasurer of the Caring Hearts Auxiliary at The Louis and Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center at Florida Atlantic University, program editor of the International Ballet Festival of Miami, president of her homeowners association, and vice president of the Florida East Coast Chapter of the National Society of Arts and Letters. She was named  Volunteer of the Year  by both the Boca Ballet Theater Co. and the Wellness & Memory Center at Florida Atlantic University.

  1. An employee from the past; Of all the people that have met in my life you were my most inspirational teacher. Because of you, I achieved great respect, business knowledge and the title “Distinguish Member of Professional Staff” in the “Bell System”
    I retired in 2004 at 55 with 35 years of service and didn’t look back. I think of very often! Stay safe and healthy.
