Trusted and respected for her expertise, Daniela Dwyer is the head of legal operations at BILL, a California-based company specializing in accounting software for small and medium-sized businesses. Since joining the organization in 2021, Ms. Dwyer has been instrumental in managing a budget exceeding $200 million and supporting the legal department by implementing various vital technology tools. Her strategic and advisory role requires her to execute requests for proposals and establish relationships with outside counsel. Moreover, Ms. Dwyer is responsible for all e-billing for the general counsel, staff meetings, and fielding all budget inquiries.
Steadily making strides in her career leading to her current position, Ms. Dwyer spent nearly six years as the head of legal operations at eBay, where she was pivotal in developing a contract management system and overseeing the implementation phase of the e-discovery process. Within her first six months at the company, she successfully built an e-billing system from scratch. Ms. Dwyer’s dedication to driving meaningful change and creating effective systems was evident as she launched a professional development program for the entire department.
Ms. Dwyer laid the foundation for her success by honing her skills as she started her career as a legal assistant/paralegal for nearly two years at VMWare, a cloud computing and virtualization technology company. She rose to become the legal operations manager at VMWare for the next eight years, continually demonstrating her potential and prowess by implementing numerous technology tools to enhance operations. In academic preparation, Ms. Dwyer earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, graduating cum laude from Notre Dame de Namur University. She also holds a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification from VMWare and a paralegal certificate from Evergreen Community College.
Throughout her career, Ms. Dwyer has been recognized for her contributions and achievements. She was featured in Hispanic Executive Magazine and The New Latina: 100 Millennials Shaping Our World. Additionally, she was nominated for Best Legal Operations Department by Law.com in 2024.
Peering forward, she hopes to advance into a more senior leadership position, strengthen partnerships with other businesses, implement enterprise-wide legal technology, establish a mentoring program for aspiring legal operations professionals, and grow a dedicated legal operations team.
Ms. Dwyer’s devotions extend to civic involvements close to her heart. She is an active member of the Gilroy Rotary Club and volunteers at her daughters’ schools and local church. More personally, Ms. Dwyer relishes time with her daughters, Avery and Scarlet. She enjoys attending their sports activities as well as hiking and staying fit.
