Since founding Talbott’s Veterans Advocacy LLC in 2024, she has excelled as the owner and VA-accredited claims agent, representing veterans nationwide to secure their rightful benefits. Her dedication to veterans’ advocacy stems from her own military service as a military police officer in the United States Army Reserve from 2008 to 2014.
Ms. Talbott’s commitment to supporting veterans is further demonstrated through her roles at West Virginia University, where she has served as co-director of the Veterans Advocacy Law Clinic since 2023 and adviser to the Veterans Affairs Clinic since 2022. Prior to her current endeavors, she gained experience as a caseworker for the U.S. government in 2012 and as a management analyst for the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development in 2011.
From 2008 to 2011, Ms. Talbott’ owned Veterans Advocate, A. McClure and Associates, where she honed her skills in advocating for veterans’ rights. In addition to her professional roles, she actively contributes to the National Law School Veterans Clinic Consortium, a collaborative initiative addressing the unique legal needs of U.S. military veterans. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University in 2005, and a Juris Doctor from the College of Law at Syracuse University in 2006.
Reflecting on her path, Ms. Talbott’s passion for veterans’ advocacy is deeply rooted in her family’s military history, particularly her grandfather’s service. This connection inspired her commitment to ensuring veterans receive the benefits they deserve without enduring prolonged appeals. A standout moment in her career was assisting a homebound Korean War veteran who had never applied for VA benefits. Despite his advancing dementia, she successfully secured full benefits for him within four months, ensuring he now has the financial resources for the care he needs for the rest of his life.
Beyond her professional commitments, Ms. Talbott has actively contributed to civic organizations, serving as the legal coordinator for The American Legion Mountaineer Boys State from 2010 to 2024 and coaching the Ripley Youth Basketball League from 2011 to 2014.
Ms. Talbott attributes her success to her strong academic foundation, meticulous attention to detail, and relentless pursuit of excellence, all supported by her husband’s encouragement. Looking to the future, she is focused on expanding the West Virginia University Veterans Law Clinic program to recruit and train more advocates dedicated to serving the veterans’ community. She views the clinic’s growth as essential to increasing pro bono legal assistance for those in need. In the long term, she is eager to deepen her involvement in teaching and plans to transition to a full-time role in academia.
