NADINE SHERRY "VIC" GUCKEISEN

A musician all her life, Nadine Sherry “Vic” Guckeisen first began playing the piano and organ when she was three and a half years old. Predominantly self-taught, she began by teaching herself how to imitate the songs she heard on TV. After earning a diploma from Kiel High School in 1969, she joined Lakeland University, where she graduated with a degree in business administration in 1973. Subsequently discovering her love of education while volunteering with local schools, she entered the field of education as the volunteer director with the Kiel Area School District from 1998 to 2004 and as a teacher’s aide with the Holy Rosary School from 1998 to 2002. In 2002, Ms. Guckeisen accepted a position teaching at the Saints Peter and Paul School in the Green Bay Diocese, a position she held for five years.

Returning to Lakeland University, Ms. Guckeisen furthered her studies with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, graduating in 2012 with a 3.95 GPA. Following this accomplishment, she was active as a teacher at the Consolidated Parochial Elementary School in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee from 2012 to 2017. Along with teaching in a school setting, she served as a music teacher for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee from 2007 to 2021 and contributed her musical talents to the Holy Rosary Parish as the music and choir director and main accompanist from 2008 to 2021. Now retired from her music career, she hopes to be remembered by her students as someone who tried to make class fun for them and would advise young and aspiring professionals to remember that, although you are the teacher, you can still learn from your students.

An accomplished writer and composer as well, Ms. Guckeisen is noted for her original composition, “Little Lamb,” which was inspired by a drive through the countryside. She also organized numerous spring and fall concerts for children throughout her various positions. Active in her community as well, she spent four years working as a dispatcher for the Kiel Police Department and the Kiel Fire Department and Ambulance Service. Furthermore, she has contributed her skills as a freelance writer with the Sheboygan Press, the Herald Times Reporter and Wisconsin Public Service, and did product demonstrations for ASM. In her retirement, she is looking to do further work as a freelance writer in order to stay active.

Attributing much of her success to her passion for music, the support of her parish, and her dear friend Lora Landgraf, Ms. Guckeisen considers the highlights of her career to be the time she spent as the music and choir director at Holy Rosary Parish and her many years teaching music. She is also incredibly proud to have been twice recognized by Marquis Who’s Who. Although physical limitations have led to her step down from her musical duties at her church, Ms. Guckeisen remains active in music, writing, composing, crocheting, reading and her faith in God.
