Diana Hahnemann Bowar is a senior mortgage advisor at Flagstar, where she uses her expertise to empower clients and help them navigate each step of the home financing process. With more than two decades of experience in financial services with an emphasis on lending and financial planning, Ms. Bowar is dedicated to helping redefine what a mortgage can look like. Her motto is “building clients for life,” and her work involves starting each loan from referral and going past closing to include client education and support in planning for the future.
An alumnus of the University of Washington, Ms. Bowar completed a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science before beginning her career. While she has found success in the financial services sector for more than 25 years, she initially dreamed of becoming a teacher and found finance to be a challenge at first. Her empathy for the process and her passion for educating others have helped set her apart as a lending agent, and Ms. Bowar’s emphasis on guiding clients toward independent and informed decisions is her professional signature.
Prior to joining Flagstar as a senior mortgage analyst, Ms. Boward held the same role with 1st Security Bank, worked as a commercial lending specialist for First Interstate Bank and was a wholesale mortgage underwriter. She holds Series 7, Series 63 and Series 65 securities licenses, and is in the process of becoming a certified mortgage adviser. She began her career as a retail bank branch manager before transitioning into financial advising with Morgan Stanley. For more than 15 years, she was an independent business owner, helping her hone the abilities that came to define her unique professional perspective and trademark client management skills. She loves working with new loan officers, training them, and helping them grow their businesses and client portfolios, and considers helping others find success to be just as rewarding as her own.
In the coming years, Ms. Bowar anticipates continuing to grow her brand and hopes to build her team to an account value of $100 million. She has been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades for her achievements in the financial services sector, and has been profiled in several prior editions of Marquis Who’s Who. Most recently, Ms. Bowar was named one of the Shermins Club Top 1% of Mortgage Originators for 2020, and is proud of the perseverance and dedication that she brings to her work, particularly the tenacity required to rebuild her business after the unexpected loss of her husband, Dale, in 2018.
Ms. Bowar is the mother of three young adult children, daughters Ashley and Sara and a son, Nick, and she looks forward to having one of her daughters join her in the mortgage industry within five years. She attributes her enduring success to her competitive and self-starting nature, and believes in using her accomplishments as a platform to give back and do good for others and for society. To that end, Ms. Bowar is president of the National Charity League and is active in advocacy and fundraising for Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research.
