With a Bachelor of Science in computer information systems, Amber Lee Pappas has commenced her career as the director of operations for Aspen Construction Incorporated, where she remained for nearly 20 years before co-founding Safety Help Today with her partner, Jim Anderson. She and Mr. Anderson developed their company in order to make a difference and change the way safety was handled in the construction industry, especially for small and midsize contractors. After Ms. Pappas experienced a fatal event with one of her employees, she dedicated her career to safety policies and culture. Today, her company develops and dispenses customized safety awareness and prevention strategies, helping contractors, municipalities and other organizations spanning across the United States.
As a qualified professional, Ms. Pappas is a certified instructor trainer (CIT), certified safety professional (CSP), an authorized OSHA 1910 and 1926 trainer and speaker in her field. Additionally she is a trainer for the Arizona Chapter National Safety Council, and specializes in safety training methods, and the fundamentals of industrial hygiene and job safety analysis. As a testament to her company’s excellent reputation in the industry, the city and borough of Juneau, Alaska, contracted Safety Help Today to support the community’s annual Safety Week event. Since its establishment, the company has expanded from just Ms. Pappas and her partner to having additional inspectors, trainers and administrators.
Ms. Pappas has attributed her professional success to her passion for safety in the industry. She is constantly motivated by working alongside new colleagues at her company, and practicing new safety measures to prevent serious injuries and illnesses. She is dedicated to finding ways to offer better safety measures in the workplace and is proud to be instrumental in developing safety and health policies that are then implemented by other companies. Ms. Pappas is fortunate to have been mentored by Toni DiDomenico, who serves as the regional safety director at Ryan Companies and JoAnn Dankert, the senior safety consultant for the National Safety Council.
Ms. Pappas maintains her professional and civic affiliation with the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), the Arizona Chapter of the National Safety Council, the Desert Springs Bible Church and the American Society for Safety Professionals. In the coming years, she would like to continue to expand her business into general workplace facilities. Ms. Pappas would also like to serve as an expert witness.
