Having accrued nearly 20 years of creative and professional excellence, Tiffany L. Parker has garnered a laudable reputation as an entrepreneur, designer and media communications expert. A graduate of Howard University, she completed a Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1999 and subsequently earned a Master of Public Administration in media policy from Columbia University in 2001. Ms. Parker attributes her success to her entrepreneurial nature, innate work ethic, and market experience in networking and building relationships across industries. She also had the opportunity to make great relationships with very successful and prominent people.
Prior to opening Parker Interiors in 2009, Ms. Parker enjoyed a decade long career in foreign services and marketing. From 2001 until 2004, she distinguished herself as a foreign service officer for the U.S. Department of State, departing to join Philip Morris USA as a senior media specialist. She remained involved with Philip Morris through 2005, after which she was named as the director of communications at Rexahn Pharmaceuticals Incorporated, a role she held until 2007. She proceeded to serve as a senior communications manager for DTI Associates and consulted on behalf of Booz Allen Hamilton before becoming an associate in 2009. Ms. Parker was a strategic communications officer for the Department of the Army between 2010 and 2012, whereupon she devoted full-time efforts to Parker Interiors.
Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Parker became disenchanted with the extensive travel required by foreign service and sought more personal fulfillment than she found in the marketing industry. While on a trip to Mexico, she began contemplating a new career, and considered real estate before discovering the promising field of home staging and design. Parker Interiors is one of the largest staging companies in Washington, DC, and has handled more than $2 billion of residential and commercial properties since 2009. Ms. Parker carries her communications and marketing philosophy into her design work, and considers staging to be a way of communicating a home’s potential and highlighting growth opportunities for the buyer, the seller and the property.
In addition to her work with clients, Ms. Parker has expanded Parker Interiors to include staging training and consulting services, furniture rental and open house packages. In the coming years, she aspires to continue growing her business, and to use her expertise and big-picture worldview to help others and make an impact on her clients. Accordingly, she founded Design Heals, a 501(c)(3) organization providing design and decor services to those struggling with homelessness, domestic violence survival and cancer. Since 2017, Design Heals and its team of dedicated volunteers have collaborated with such organizations as Sarah’s Hope, a Baltimore based comprehensive family shelter, and other deserving individuals across the county.
